At this point the 56 Dems who support a Public Option should tell Obama & Reid
Edited on Wed Dec-16-09 05:31 PM by WI_DEM
Put a bill forward with a Public Option and MC buy in and let the GOP and the Repulicrats fillibuster it, and make sure, Harry, and keep the Senate in session 24-hours per day and thru Christmas holidays. Don't allow any other work to be done in the Senate while they fillibuster health care.

This way if we go down to defeat ultimately we can say we fought the good fight and for a strong bill and that the GOP and their democratic enablers defeated it--rather than us giving in and supporting a weak bill.

2. I have been saying this for a long time.
Let the Repubs be shown on C-SPAN for the obstructionists they are. What about the "nuclear option"? Remember that? I don't know what is though. Some way to blow up a filibuster?

Why aren't the top Dems coming up with these ideas, as we are? At some point it's time to draw your line in the sand, quit playing politics, and stand for something dammit!

3. Works for me
Works for me if just five of them do it.

Or two of them.

How many Senators does a Leiberman count for again?

Regardless, I have a feeling we will get none. They will capitulate...and we all will suffer for it.

5. That's the plan......

... at least as far as the time table. But what they wanted to do with it (until the Lieberman explosio) didn't leave time for what you're suggesting.

6. Why they don't do it ---
is beyond me.

It's an incredible opportunity to put the GOP on the hot seat and win some more seats -- nothing like watching the GOP try to kill HCR and them being able to beat them over the head with that fact during an election.

8. You seem to be overlooking the fact...
that with this Senate bill, the Administration got exactly the bill it had sought.. (it contains ALL the criteria he needed.) The White House is pleased as punch with this "Insurance Industry Profit Protection Act" ( if only they could find a way to get that Pitts -Stupak Language back in. )

10. Well, then the liberals in the senate who want a PO should fillibuster this bill.

9. When that happens, I will go to work again.
I spent multiple hours a year ago helping to get this administration elected. I campaigned and voted for people I thought would do this kind of smart brave thing. I won't be knocking on doors and canvassing for timid little neophytes again.
