Maybe Obama's current goal is to look weak, feckless and powerless
This way the American people will feel sorry for him when he's getting beat down and shit on by his base, the Republicans and the corporate media. Sorta like feeling sorry for the kid who got picked on relentlessly in elementary school.

Then the American people will vote for Obama in 2012 and then he can implement his real agenda and bring about the change he always talked about.

Perhaps Obama is playing a game of super hyper-dimensional chess that mere mortals cannot comprehend.

I'm a believer :)

6. I happen to think Obama is much smarter than most here
.....so I'm gonna let him lead, too. I know he has strategists working on all this stuff, and I figure they're pretty smart, too.

See the jobs report today?

See the stock market today?

Not good news for republicans, great for Obama.

Republican goals: make Obama fail, block as much legislation as possible, work towards winning 2012 election.

With the economy picking up steam, letting the middle-class tax cuts expire would be like throwing water on a fire. That would be ideal for republicans. Economy depressed, giving better shot at taking WH in 2012. But, actually voting against the tax cuts for the middle-class could be risky, so they make us throw in the tax cuts for the rich, hoping that dems opt for letting all expire instead of just the cuts for the 2%. Mission accomplished.

It is a chess game. And, I think Obama knows what he's doing.

14. Bullshit. Now that there's a Repub H.R. all the MSM and the Rethug
echo chamber will be bleating 24/7 that the rebound in the economy is due to electing Republicans, and the idiots that pass for educated voters will nod their heads and continue to vote Rethuglican in 2012.

But in fact it could be the opposite that's true.....others are playing with marbles and Obama is the one who's playing chess.

11. super hyper-dimensional chess
only works in the super hyper dimension.

He needs to come down to planet Earth and play 3-dimensional chess like the rest of us.

I wanted to laugh at the humor in your post, but i am feeling too sad about everything that's unfolding in Washington.

that only he understands how it works. I'm sure if we just wait for 2012 he will shed his Captain Feckless disguise and emerge as the great Liberal Hope who will make it all right. Any minute now... just wait...

24. What is with this playground language?
Your post assumes a lot - mostly distilled from the DU echo chamber. The Republicans I am sure, are very happy.

I think the real problem here is the weakness of the Presidency itself. People who want an authoritarian leader will simply not get what they want as long as they live in the U.S.

All Presidents get "picked on" relentlessly by the media. Even freepers whined when Bush was in office.
