I think Larry Summers should be replaced with Paul Krugman.
Krugman has been spot on with his analysis of the ongoing recession for quite a years now, and the remedies that he has pushed for are the ones that have actually worked. Unfortunately, the administration only used parts of what he suggested.

9. Link? And didn't Krugman decline to be considered the last time around?
Edited on Wed Sep-22-10 04:40 PM by Tarheel_Dem
He makes more money, lobbing grenades from outside the tent. And he doesn't want to take the fall, just in case his policy ideas don't work either. He's got the best of both worlds.

14. You don't know the facts...AT ALL!
Krugman doesn't want to work for Obama. He said so...he said he doesn't want a career in politics. Realize this.

5. Kugman said prior to Obama's inaugeration that he didn't want a job in the Admin
but I think he suggests Stiglitz or Dean Baker to replace Summers.

7. He was, but he's also pushing for tariffs against China these days
So he only supports free trade if he thinks that it is in the best interest of the U.S. (and the rest of the world too, probably).

8. Krugman has no interest in such a position. He has made that clear.

10. I know he has said he is not interested, but I think he would be an excellent choice.
Maybe he would take it if asked.

16. Hello...he was asked. And said no.
He said he didn't want it...why can't you accept that. It's like Elizabeth Warren not walking a full time post. She want's to get it started and that's the end of it.

12. I like Reich too
seconded

Reich or not, this is where Obama can finally show the little people that he cares about them. If he appoints another bankster, he officially jumps the shark.

17. No...Joseph Stiglitz
Krugman has a slight leaning towards neo-liberal type policies. Stiglitz would do better although he has said no.
