As the GOP unifies & Dem disunity continues (at least in the media) I pledge to fight for Dems
We are a little over a month away from the most important general election of our time and I see a unified Republican party while Democrats, at least online and in the media, seem happy to fight amongst ourselves.

There is too much "he said this, she said that," "he or she is not progressive enough," "we haven't accomplished anything" "Obama, Pelosi and Reid sold us out."

To all of that I say "give me a break."

Let me particularly call out Jane Hamsher and Firedog Lake with a particular "FUCK YOU!"

We are this close to a midterm election that can shift power from the Democrats to the Republicans AND now is not the time for this shit. I'm willing to defend the record of Obama, Pelosi and Reid, but even those not pleased with them have to acknowledge that the way to advance a progressive agenda is to not let the Republicans take over either chamber of Congress.

As the Republicans are generating energy we are continue to generate disunity.

In last 48 hours we hear that Lady Gaga is more a fierce advocate than Obama when it comes to LGBT issues, last I saw Lady Gaga or the political party she leads is not on the fucking ballot.

Obama, Gibbs and company have had to push back at progressives, not because they want to but because they have to. Obama has made so much progress on progressive issues yet a significant part of the progressive movement, led by Hamsher, are sitting in the corner with their arms folded complaining, complaining, complaining. Do they not realize how this constant complaining only empowers the Republicans. Furthermore if Obama and the Dems hold on to power without the support of certain elements of the progressive movement it will be much easier for others to marginalize those elements. Trust me, I'm busting my ass and regardless of the outcome of November I will be less than enthusiastic to listen to or work with those progressives who just sat in the corner pouting.

Lastly, I see some progressives throwing Elizabeth Warren under the bus. We wanted her, we got her but some are more interested in complaining about what title/power she doesn't have than rally around what she does.

Folks, we can win this. But we need to quit sitting in the corner licking our wounds, hit the ground and hit the ground hard. At this point if we lose its going to have a lot more to do with the grassroots not taking responsibility for getting out the vote.

1. The only thing I disagree with is that I don't see the Republicans as being totally unified
However, given the challenges we face in this election, we should be trying to get more unified than what we appear to be at this particular moment IMHO.

Right now, it seems like some people mostly want to devote most of their time and energy attacking members of our own party (true, there are some real buttheads in our party but the REAL enemy we should be worried about are the Republicans IMHO). None of the Democrats may be 100% pure and/or responsive when it comes to advancing a progressive agenda but nobody- from either party- is "pure" one way or another and people like Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, et. al won't even pick up the phone or speak to us because anything even mildly progressive to them is considered "Socialism" and/or the next step down the road towards totalitarianism (despite the fact that nearly everything the right wants to do would actually do that).

2. If the thought of America's first "Teabagger Congress" doesn't get one motivated to get involved
I can't imagine what would. The doom and gloom we see in the press has nothing to do with reality. It has to do with ratings. This is not to say I don't believe this will be a difficult election because I think it will be but to give up now is paramount to treason. OK, maybe not treason, but certainly foolish.

3. Big K & R
This thing of the naysayers constantly putting down the many accomplishments of the Obama adm in under 2 years is the dirtiest trick in a long line of dirty tricks. Put your one-issue mindframe on hold and get with the Democratic Party people....we've got work to do.

4. K&R!
Fuck You to Jane and the rest who are working to help republicans get back in office. I am a Democrat all day long. I know which party, although not perfect, has my best interests at heart. I spread the word, make calls, and donate where I can, to keep Democrats in office.

I suspect, however, that the leftover, and very vocal, Primary 2008 sore-losers on DU do not in any way represent the mood of the vast majority of rational Democrats and other Liberal-leaning voters.
