Is no one speaking on the rampant racism in China?
The world first got sniff of this during the Olympics when Chinese bar owners were TOLD not to serve Black patrons because of stereotypes about violence. Now, there was a recent article about discrimination against African migrants to China. Why isn't anyone talking about this? The Chinese also hate on their own people (everyone that is not Han Chinese).

1. China is in the trap
that most if not all insular countries fall into. They don't have any experience outside of what the Government tells them and up until recently anyway the standard line from the leaders is that black people are all witchdoctor wannabes with bones in their noses. They have been taught that only the Han Chinese are the great race and all others are somehow weak and / or stupid.

The exact same phenomenon is seen now in the former Soviet Union where racism is endemic.

2. Those damn dirty Chinese are the cause of all the problems.
But no... seriously...

While Chinese racism is bad, there's plenty here at home that's of more immediate concern, at least to me. Racism against black people... Islamophobia... Sinophobia...

3. Oh no doubt
I'm simply confused by Obama going there, but he's gone to other countries with their own problems though. Racism is also apparent in anime too though.

Mr. Popo from Dragonball Z...and I used to love that show.

5. There's a lot of bigotry world wide
Japan vs China and Korea is a long standing one. There are many divisions within Africa. Many Russians hate Polish people and the other way around. In the US there are long standing tensions between black folks and Latinos. Our roots are tribal in nature and this often feeds right into racism/bigotry. You sometimes see these biases appear across national lines, religious lines, cultural lines and perceived racial lines. There was a time when defending you own and sticking with your group was likely a survival mechanism. Now I believe some of these ancient tendencies are exploited by the ruling class and the very wealthy to keep average folks in line. It's also good for keeping attention and responsibility away from them while they defer it to another target, ie a scapegoat. That scapegoat may be within the country or without.

6. there have been lots of stories about the girl on the chinese Idol show...
She's half Chinese and half African-American. The Chinese people are very mixed on their feelings about her. Some hate her and are very vocal about it, but at the same time, she's a favorite contestant on the show and might win. I heard about her on NPR, and Time also did a story on her recently. I'm not sure which "no one"'s you are referring to.

9. I heard about that young girl.
I went to a website and read some comments about her....I was so disgusted by the total disdain for that beautiful young girl. Some folks were calling her half dog and saying her mother was disgusting for being with a black man. Some comments were worse than that and so bad it could make a freeper blush.... if thats even possible.

7. To me, it's like religious strife in Indonesia.
I've got enough things to worry about close to home. Let them reform their own culture instead of somebody else force-feeding them training wheels.

8. Are they any worse than anywhere else?
And there are many of them that seem to respect the POTUS.

11. Almost all people on earth are racist
It is the default position. If you travel you see it. Lets do a quick jaunt around the world. China - duh. Japan - they hate everybody. Russia has huge problems with antisemitism. India and the caste system. Persians v. Arabs and both hate Jews. Tribalism in Africa (and hate Indian traders). I personally know many European racists.
