MSNBC: Dylan Ratigan
Does it bother anyone else the way Dylan talks?

He seems antagonistic. Talks too much. Talks too fast.

His style of speech is very irritating.

5. I think those who hate him are those who will defend our party no matter how Corrupt.
Edited on Thu Jul-15-10 04:00 PM by denimgirly
I find Dylan speaks the truth and to many on the left that hurts. He has openly spoken out against corruption on both sides and even the corruption of the WH and from my observation numerous people on DU dont like to hear that and get pissed when Dylan brings it to light. People here would rather see it broomed under the carpet and think our party is the party of the people and these corruption charges are made up by people who want to see our party fall.

I am a Progressive and i love the ideals of the Left but it is clear most of the leaders in it are NOT for the people. And seeing Dylan (and Cenk of the TYT) bring that up day in and day out is a refreshing.

I just wish others on DU would hold our party to the fire and keep them honest too. Sadly i doubt that will ever happen. Most people here jsut want to think everything is fine

And then he often pounds Obama from a "left position" which has nowhere near enough political support to pass as legislation.

12. Dylan tells it how it really is on economic issues more than anyone else in mass media
and is a relentless advocate for serious structural reform to our broken, leach like, and out of date systems.

If he bugs you all the time (everybody bugs or is disagreeable at times) then maybe you're a member of the status quo/don't rock the boat caucus.

If you've accepted the exchange of focus grouped talking points as a real exchange of ideas, presided over by someone willing to accept them as a real debate then his isn't the show for you.

If you want to stop the train rolling downhill at us then his show will often be edifying, even if uncomfortable at times.

27. No he does not. He tells it like he thinks it is. He does not have the
wherewithall to actually KNOW how it is. In his mind, things are so simple that 1 + 1 must always equal 2. But in the real world things are a lot more complicated than that. So he and his ilk are just whores trying to make a buck (ala rush limbaugh) by fooling the gullible masses with their righteous outrage. He is just the other side of the rush/beck coin to me.

13. Ok, I looked him up on YouTube
because he keeps popping up on threads. I don't usually watch GENBC but I think I've seen him before. I just saw the clip "Glenn Beck V Dylan Ratigan."

He sounds typical for the loud, hyped up brand of infotainment in most cable news channels. I disliked that he tried to make himself look moderate by attacking Al Gore for using scare tactics. If anything, thing are worse than scientists predicted. Nor did I care for him legitimizing the right wing silliness over the climate scientist emails. It doesn't help progressives when someone like Ratigan repeats right-wing talking points instead of challenging them.

So my first impression of Ratigan is that he can go to hell.

50. Ratigan was being television friendly.
These aren't nice guys. They aren't reasonable. They don't respect the President. They derogatorily call him the "community organizer" and that's about the least offensive name they have for him. They think Obama is essentially a failure who never worked a day in the private sector, doesn't have the first clue about how to run a business or "create value" and can't appreciate how brilliant and amazing they are for devoting all of their waking life to the pursuit of money. They are also convinced he wants to ruin their capitalist fantasy paradise universe, raise their taxes and give their precious income to poor drug addicts and immigrants.

I think Ratigan did a decent impression. He captured the mentality. You can't reasonably interpret this as Ratigan personally calling the President a "little boy".

I always find it fascinating when Obama or his die-hard supporters take sides with big finance and attack critics of big finance. It's an interesting dynamic.

48. He would be informative if he really dug deeply into the topics he covers..
But he doesn't do that. He has his own pre-conceived, simplistic notions and will only scratch the surface just enough to prove his own point, so he can be right. The issues are a lot more complicated than both he and other critics want to believe. And there is no way to examine them and come up with solutions during a 3 minute segment. For any one who believes they are, I know a nice bridge in NY I'd like to sell them.

54. He has a 60 minute show that is on 5 days a week. He has the time.
He bait Liberals that like hating on this administration...which is why Ratigan never has anything positive to say about the President or this administration....which is a trait he shares with quite a few of his fans in this thread here at DU. That's why he got his own show......because although folks just got fucked big time by Republicans...seems like they want some more of that, which is why some of them are hating so hard on Barack Obama and everyfuckingthing he says or does
as much as they do. It almost consumes them, and he provides a certain outlet for that, without folks being forced to turn on Fox News.

Like someone said, those who were fooled by John Edwards as "sincere" during the last two campaigns (without notice that he ran on the opposite platform in 2004 than he did in 2008), will enjoy believing this self-entitled arrogant know-it-all fast talking head "everyone is fucked up and has it wrong except for me" Ratigan. They see it as someone speaking truth to power (while getting paid by GE), when he is actually peddling negative bullshit with a sprinkle of truth wherever needed. And like John Edwards was proven for the fake that he is, so will Ratigan....when he, in earnest, starts boosting Republicans, during the election season.
