Holland & Kultala come out guns blazing

Tom Holland and Kelly Kultala used their first appearance this morning in Overland Park to focus down their campaign to two simple words: Sam Brownback.

The Democratic duo - Holland running for governor and Kultala his Lt. Gov. running mate - wasted no time in taking the fight to Brownback, the leading Republican who many pundits say has already won the election.

"For the past 16 years Sam Brownback has been part of the problem," said Kultala, a state Senator from Kansas City, Kan. who Holland announced as his runningmate Wednesday. "Brownback had a front-row seat in Washington while his failed policies made life worse for families. Enough is enough... Tom Holland is the moderate, pragmatic alternative.

"I believe Tom can win this," Kultala said. "We know we've have an uphill battle. We know we're the underdogs. We know we're facing a right-wing politician from the fringe of his party with deep pockets. But we're Kansans and we know how to work."
