How about starting a real coalition
with African Americans, progressives, and unions? If there is one its a very loose one and after yesterday, it is obvious what happens when we split up. Yeah, yeah, we all come together for the big one (presidential) but what about the midterms?

This is not a post calling one group stupid for voting for this person, or delusional for doing this or that. This is a new day and we have our work cut out for us and we need to strategize. Think of the power that all three groups can have if we worked together.

Remember there are more blacks in the south than there are progressives. There are states with a high black population, how can progressives and unions utilize that like the POTUS did? Remember in the start of the primaries, Hillary was polling higher with black voters than Obama was. So it's not necessarily a black thang. Just ask arthur davis.

What happened yesterday was yesterday news, I'm looking at the potential that the future holds. There are things that the three groups may not agree with, but my God there are so many more that we can agree with.

Fired Up and Ready to Go!!! Are you?

voting patterns in the South...not that we don't elect idiots up here too (Scott Brown). But they tend to be less socially and even economically conservative.

9. the black vote isn't a monolithic vote
but as a southern, liberal black woman I know that a lot of black people tend to be fiscally progressives and they are not as socially conservative as the msm like to portray them. They just tend to deal with social (abortion, sexually)issues privately.

Just because you don't see them marching for same sex marriage and a woman's right to choose, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are against YOU choosing to live that way. They might not like it or agree with it, but it is your business. At the end of the day, isn't that the most important thing. Being tolerant of another's choice to live their life?

10. I agree, I don't think all blacks vote one way or another.
The black vote can rally around a candidate they really connect with, it depends on the candidate. The coalitions of Dems seems to want to not always work together and instead, in-fight.

11. exactly
the black voters in Al did not connect with davis and they did connect with Cohen in TN. Both candidates that the black voters supported were white progressives whose opponents were black centrists.

It comes down to showing a voter that YOU WANT their support, and that you RESPECT their POV and basically giving a damn about them. It's that simple.
