Am I the only one tired of hearing commentators saying, "Barack Obama doesn't understand . . ."
Edited on Mon Jun-07-10 09:27 PM by Empowerer
fill in the blank: He "doesn't understand how deep the economic crisis is" and he "doesn't understand what's going on in Afghanistan" and, according to Howard Fineman tonight, he "doesn't understand the depth of the anger out here."

Excuse me? Can these people be any more entitled or arrogant than to believe that THEY know SO much more about nearly everything than the President because, unlike him who is sitting in some kind of airless, iinformation-free bubbleof clueless oblivion, they sit in television studios all day long day after day talking to each other and therefore, they have in-depth, unique knowledge about all the ways of the world and have their finger on the pulse of what the "American people" think and feel?

I'll step down from my soapbox now. :-)

2. The only thing they understand are Georgetown Cocktail parties
and I remain convinced that these highly secretive pow-wows are where the media narrative is actually set.

7. Many times I have had this terrible urge to throw a meringue pie in Howard Fineman's face.
Tonight on Countdown was one of those times. He is such an arrogant ass.

they do that to a lot of politicians. But don't really watch too much of the mainstream news. I don't really mind the mainstream news, though. I get what I need out of it and that's really about it. I really can't control too much of what they do anyway. I can choose to not watch and/or try to get my news from other sources, which is what I normally do. But, either way, the news is, most likely, coming from a mainstream source even if I get the news from a more independent service. I try not to obsess over it, though. It is what it is, as they say. My main issue is mainly with the viewers/readers, who say they can't stand the media but then how do they know what the media is up to? They must be watching and/or reading. I would've turned the TV and threw the paper in the trash already.

I'll step down from my soapbox now. :)

12. Would you prefer "Barack Obama doesn't seem to give a flying fuck about X, Y, Z"? That's what...
the language is a euphemism for. He's being given the benefit of the doubt.

You're funny "given the benefit of the doubt" as if their opinion matters. The critics are full of themselves; it is easy to shout from the sidelines.

15. I think he understands a lot more and a lot better than any of
those "hacks".

We live in a generation of "I want it, and I want it NOW!"

Just like a baby says, "I want it NOW!"

Experience teaches us that "immediate" change is just as fleeting as a butterfly. It means nothing in the long run.

If you want "real, lasting" change; then you need to plan and use patience to implement it correctly, to make it truly effective.

Obama could follow the Bush Doctrine of the "Unitary Executive" and declare Executive Orders that would make all of the Left happy - for a while. BUT, those EO's could easily be overturned by the next "Unitary Executive".

Obama is walking a fine line, and he knows that any misstep could provide a "precedent" for further usurptation of power for the "Unitary Executive."

How hypocritical of us who chastised Bush (correctly) for "power-grabbing", and now we chastise Obama for NOT doing the same?

SHAME on all of you.

{now donning flame-retardant suit, which is composed of TRUTH}

18. And it's the fundamental motivation for many here...
... this weird notion that a man, quite often the smartest guy in any room he walks into, who is briefed on these matters at least daily, knows LESS about ______ than your average armchair pundit.

Crazy.
