Congressman Darrell Issa: CAR THIEF! WOW! I did not know that...
In the 1970s, Issa and his brother were twice charged with auto theft, once for a Maserati sports car in 1972 and for a Mercedes Benz sedan in 1979, along with being accused of stealing a car during his military service, although he denies these charges. He has also been convicted for possession of an unregistered gun. <4>

4. Check out this new media matters site-RE: Issa:
The REAL Darrell Issa
1 hour and 5 minutes ago — Melinda Warner
What do you get when you combine a car thief, suspected arsonist, criminal associate, great private wealth, and a drive for political stardom? You get Darrell Issa, congressman representing the 49th district of California.

While he has been gunning for Democrats for several years from his post on the House Oversight Committee, Rep. Issa has lately been clamoring for the media attention that comes with an attempt to bring down a White House. Issa has been on every news network discussing the "scandal" of a job offer made to Joe Sestak...despite numerous sources who insist there is nothing criminal or suspect about the situation.

Issa's past makes this new pressure for an investigation all the more interesting. Whether it has been surreptitiously taking a business partner to court to gain control, seeing his company go up in suspicious flames, or defending a colleague convicted of bribery and fraud, Issa certainly has had the personal and professional experience one might need in order to sniff out nefarious activity in others.

Want more on Issa?

6. The 49th district must be so proud. Although usually Republicans prefer their criminal politicians
not be caught, or at least not caught repeatedly, apparently the 49th can't be that picky.

The guy is a criminal!

And to think as a likely former car thief, he runs a business selling car alarms!!

And we already know about what kind of criminal that Duke Cunningham was and how he's now doing time for that.

Duncan Hunter avoided paying taxes on the full value of his house, but at the same time collected "full benefits" when it burned down in the San Diego fires. And his brother, a VP at a big local developer firm, McMillin, which was notorious for putting big campaign donations into Republican coffers around there in San Diego, benefited from his brother's lobbying of the city to a pretty crazy deal selling off public land there too. His brother also somehow "won" the lottery that company conducted to give people first crack at that land for houses.

From insider speak, I was told that Hunter was also a target of Carol Lam's before she got muscled out of the Attorney's spot down there.

And I've heard some nasty stories about Brian Bilbray when he was a lifeguard many years back too, but probably would need to find one of them corroborated on the net before I talked about them.

That area of California is FULL of corrupt criminals as Republicans serving in our government. One of the big reasons I moved away from there.

14. Didn't he also sell his own car and then later report it stolen in order to collect
on the insurance payout? I recall reading an article about this during the recall election. He blamed his brother for the theft.

Issa also threatened Rep Henry Waxman during a CSpan interview over the investigation of Blackwater.

"If Henry Waxman today wants to go to Iraq and do an investigation, Blackwater will be his support team. His protection team. Do you think he really wants to investigate directly?"
