2. Is it your contention that Obama did all of this over his "Christmas vacation"?
I don't understand how the headline relates to the linked articles.

3. You wouldn't understand....you are correct about that.
Edited on Sat Jan-02-10 03:52 PM by FrenchieCat
so here it is, so that even you can understand.....The point is that yes,
these are items that were either accomplished, came to fruition,
or were written about during his Christmas vacation.....

Is there a reason why he doesn't get the benefit of these accomplishments,
since he gets the blame for US policy since they began?

I realize that there is a fringe element here at DU
who seem to want to focus on what he didn't do.
I'm doing the opposite.

Does this OP make you feel unhappy?
If so, sorry. I didn't mean to mess up your day.
Have a happy New Year anyway! :hi:

4. I did nowhere that number of things on my Christmas vacation.
Edited on Sat Jan-02-10 03:53 PM by MercutioATC
Then again, neither did Barack Obama.

Your post doesn't make me "unhappy", it just implies a laughably inaccurate premise.

7. Damn! That's a lot of hysteria for one post.
I posted in response to an OP that attempted to draw a parallel between what a respondent did over "Christmas Vacation" and what Obama did over "Christmas Vacation"...except Obama actually did almost nothing on that list.

I'm not "unhappy", I'm just incredulous that there are people who post/buy into tripe like this. Wanna talk about the good things Obama has done? Great! It's just silly to exaggerate like this.

6. Closing the detention facility at Guantanamo is a national security imperative.
The detention facility at Guantanamo has been used by Al Qaeda as a rallying cry and recruiting tool — including its affiliate Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. As our military leaders have recognized, closing the detention facility at Guantanamo is a national security imperative. Could not agree more...

10. Thank you mstinamotorcity!
Your compliment is much appreciated.

This year, 2010, will be one of monumental progress (some more),
to the unfortunate chagrin of those who thought they were ready for progress,
but obviously were not. :hi:

16. I second this post.
Weird how for some, it's more important to willfully devalue the EVIDENCE of considerable good progress because...

why? They didn't like a bit of poetic license?

18. I spent some days
Edited on Sun Jan-03-10 02:14 PM by LWolf
camping out in my house with no water because the pipes were frozen. Fortunately, I'd filled the horses' large water tanks right before everything froze up, so they had a week's worth of water before it became a crisis.

I traveled 15 miles round-trip each day to my son's to shower, etc., while I waited for the pipes to thaw.

They thawed after 5 days, and I had to immediately run out to the pump house to shut down the well pump, because a pipe was broken under the house. So still, no water. I called, and got in line for, a plumber. It took 2 days, and because I was at home waiting for the plumber to show up, I missed showing up to support my students at a local chess tournament they'd entered.

Finally, though, the pipe was fixed, and the water was on. The first thing I did was rush out to re-fill the horses' water tanks.

Good thing, because, in less than 24 hours, I lost power to the house. A few days before my son was supposed to fly in for xmas. So I used electric lanterns to find my way around, and drove to my sons again for showers and laundry. No water out of the well with no electricity.

So I called an electrician. It took him 3 days and $972 to find the break in the underground line and repair it. Finally, the day before xmas eve, power AND water were restored.

Just in time to spend xmas eve in the emergency room with my son, who was diagnosed with MRSA. Still, we enjoyed his visit, even if we curtailed most of the things we'd planned to do. I put him back on the plane a couple of days ago, and have been enjoying the last 2 days of vacation before heading back to work tomorrow.

Today's project is to crawl under the house and add more insulation to that new pipe while the weather is relatively mild.

Thanks for asking.
