Hillary, Bill Clinton dine in Bogota amid better security

BOGOTA (AFP) – US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Wednesday touted how much security has improved in

Colombia by revealing that her husband Bill Clinton joined her for dinner in a Bogota restaurant.

Clinton arrived late Tuesday in Colombia for talks with President Alvaro Uribe and other officials as part of a four-country tour of

Latin America, and the former president who was here on separate business met up with her.

"We had a wonderful dinner last night here in Bogota among friends, some Colombians, some American, and we talked about how remarkable it was how such a common event could take place," Clinton told a press conference.

She said that as she drove Wednesday to the presidential palace for the press conference, "my heart was filled with the hope that I know fills the hearts of so many Colombians that what has been accomplished will only go from strength to strength."

Uribe, who stood next to her at the press conference, first disclosed the news that the Clintons had dined together Tuesday when he called it a public relations boost for security in the country that has suffered from drug-related violence and terrorism.

A Clinton aide told reporters that former president Clinton visited Bogota as part of his work for the Clinton Foundation. He said the Clintons and the entire group dined in a steakhouse in the Colombian capital.

1. You may have noticed the photo accompanying the article, showing them in SOACHA.

Please take a moment to look at the videos provided by rabs, ALSO related to Soacha, Colombia. Not surprisingly, there's a totally image of that town available to people concerned with the havoc wrought in Colombia after Bill Clinton's Plan Colombia was initiated, under the beady watchful eyes of Alvaro Uribe.

AFP – Former US President Bill Clinton visits the National Service of Learning Center (SENA) in Soacha, south …

Parts I and II of video featuring actual news clips from Colombia:

"Poverty, a crime that is paid for with death."

"...It tells the story of the poor youths from Soacha (poverty-stricken slum area on the outskirts of Bogota) who were offered jobs elsewhere in Colombia and a month later wound up as false positives, killed by the Colombian army. Video shows mothers of two of the youths, government claims that the FARC had killed them, then Santos saying they were killed in combat, uribe saying the same, until the truth finally came out in NGOs and Colombian and international media. This was happening in August 2008 when JM santos was defense minister.

Video is in Spanish, but easy to follow.

2. So, I wonder when the next push for the FTA will be.

3. Senator Dodd and another Democrat told Uribe he thought it's all off for this year,
but you can be sure Clinton, whose husband put Plan Colombia in motion, and the first FTA isn't really taking the side of the people, or of the Democrats in Congress who already have stated exactly where they stand on Colombia and its hideous human rights history.

They've probably already cooked up a scheme. A-holes.
