YES!! Alarcon calls Hillary's Bluff, asks directly to lift embargo

I thought this immediately after Hillary's statements about how the Cuban govt. uses the embargo to stay in power and doesn't want it lifted. I thought BULLSHIT but many people I know of the liberal persuasion, and even many Cuban experts agreed with her. So the strategy would be exactly this: OK so prove it and we're willing to work on it with you.

GREAT! I will look for a better English translation of the whole thing

Havana urged Washington to lift the embargo for a year

Havana on Sunday urged the U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, to lift the trade embargo for a year, to see who want to keep it, ANSA reported.

"If she really believes that the blockade on the Cuban government benefits, it is very simple, which stands, even for a year to try to see if it was in our interest or in the interest of them," said Ricardo Alarcon, president of National Assembly of Popular Power.

Hillary Clinton recently stated that the brothers Fidel and Raul Castro do not want to lift the embargo that America stays on the island, because they "lost all his excuses for what has happened in Cuba over the past 50 years."

Alarcon made the remarks as he cast his "vote" on the municipal electoral farce which takes place this Sunday on the Island, where council members are selected among candidates from the same party.

2. Everything about Cuba would be more transparent if the embargo was lifted
so we'll see if they will stick with the hypocrasy of the embargo in Washington DC.

And continue paying for the dissident movement in Cuba, while complaining about their right to defend themselves.

4. I think the embargo should be lifted.
The best solution is to lift the embargo. Then watch to see what the Castros do. Evidently it's better if the Latin American Human rights agreements are obeyed. But the US has to learn to obey the rules too, and close down the Guantanamo prison. Otherwise they lack the moral standing to criticize anybody.

5. If you want the Embargo lifted why harp on Zapata?
That kind of smoke screen just slows the process down.

Alarcon asked for change.

The truth of the situation will be in the response.

What do you think it will be?

A. The U.S. ends the embargo, or at least lifts travel restrictions, and works with Cuba according to this request.

B. Blows off Cuba with the usual lies about how it's Fidels fault, etc.
