Obama's national security adviser roils the waters even more
Edited on Thu Aug-06-09 05:29 PM by rabs

With an an adviser like Jones, no wonder Obama is in the dark.

In an interview with O Estado de Sao Paulo today, Gen. Jim Jones said the FARC are operating from Venezuelan territory and the Venezuelan government is not doing much about it.

Here is the nut graph of the interview:

FARC also acts in Venezuela, says adviser to Obama

Do you see a clear influence of Venezuela and its allies in the reaction of South American nations over the (bases) accord?

Obviously, some leaders in the region have a different point of view from ours.

We know with some certainty that significant elements of the FARC are acting inside the Venezuelan frontier and (that) the Venezuelan government is not doimg much to combat that.

However, it is not acceptable that those nations allow their frontiers to be used as bases to attack another sovereign nation in the region. What is happening is that the USA is aiding a friendly nation, where democracy is trying to survive.

1. But it's alright for us to violate the Pakistan border.
And didn't we violate the Brazilian border when we shot down the missionaries?

2. Recall a shootdown of the missionary plane happened in Peru several years ago

when the plane was mistaken for a drug-smuggler's aircraft. American mother and infant daughter were killed in that incident. Don't remember any missionaries being shot down in Brazil.

What is going to be interesting is the Venezuelan government's reaction to the remarks by Jones.

4. Jones is another war hawk
When this country needed more Daniel Ellsbergs, Obama is giving us more Bob McNamaras.
