Do you guys recall a Biden video I posted repeatedly where he was speaking
with medical personnel in the armed services? It was a small classroom type setting, the 'audience' was in a tiered semi-circle, he did a little sheet of paper demo about how the MWRAP works, and got so passionate and fired up about providing care to our service men and women.

My mind is blank - I thought it may have been called Sacred Obligation, but I can't find it on YouTube under that title. I was doing this when he was still in the running for Prez.

I did a search on DU under videos, but couldn't find it there, either.

Anyway, the reason I'm asking, I'm exercising remarkable restraint in holding back a response to this poster. I don't want to jump down his throat because he IS acknowledging that Joe is formidable when so moved, so I just want to give him a link to the video and say -- here's Biden fired up. And by the way, he's not a gaffe machine - please don't buy into that meme. (Remembering our "nice" Bidenite rep!)

On another note, this is the second day in a row I've been up and around and haven't had to go back to bed once! (Yet!) :hi:

1. Sorry, I don't remember it
I've been wondering why the White House isn't using Joe right now. He is great in town hall meetings. They sent him to Michigan a while back to talk to auto workers about the recovery and he was as you say "fired up". He got several standing ovations of course. He seems to be at his best in such a forum and manages to keep a crowd under control, usually captivated. Right now they need a plain spoken, straight-shooter.

That gaffe meme has to go. It's especially disheartening to hear that media created crap here of all places.

Congratulations on staying up for two days!!! That is really a good sign. Are you still living at your brother's house?

Sorry I missed you this time, but I'll be around.

2. Not a big deal -- I would have been more ardent had the poster
been an anti-Joe-all-the-way person.

Not being able to recall the title of the vid is an example of the "blocks of blank" I have in my mind post-treatment. It's different from the usual just can't remember -- almost as though someone literally carved out the piece of my brain that was holding certain info. :eyes:

When I DO run across the vid someday, I'll show it to you and you'll go Oh YEAH! THAT one! :7

3. I've gotten to the point where
I don't pay a lot of attention to the gaffe remarks anymore. I am hopeful they will eventually fade away, but bad habits are hard to break. A while back Joe Scarborough of all people actually gave to Biden's defense when John Harwood made a "gasbaggery" crack. Scarborough jumped in and said how lucky Obama was to have him because of his foreign policy experience, etc. I posted it here a while ago.

The video might not be around anymore. A lot of election videos got yanked after the inauguration.

So are the pieces of memory gone for good?

4. The gaffe remarks are more tolerable these days since so
often it's in an "Oh, Joe..." type of way, rather than as a vicious argument used against him like when he was a candidate.

Don't know about the memory -- I'm constantly discovering new gaps and oddities. I do know that my entire recollection of these past months is just dark, I picture myself lying in my darkened room, a few memories of throwing up, etc., but no real events. A long, continual nothing, in a box of nothingness. Hard to explain.

I had some type of "stroke thing" as my doctor put it at the time, and the only reason we knew was because the right side of my lips were numb, and my right hand was a little numb. No slurred speech, no other indications (what sent me to the doctor was putting on my lip liner, not feeling the right side, and ending up looking like Lucy Ricardo). It was interesting that I couldn't figure out how to turn my shower knob to get the water warmer or cooler, and I couldn't figure out which knob on my stove worked which burner. I've noticed these have lessened over the years, and although my memory probs associated with the Pegasys (the Hep C drug) are different, I'm hopeful that they will abate over time, too. We'll see!

5. You know,
that happens to me now and then - forgetting which direction is hot and which is cold in the shower, same with the knobs on the stove. It tends to be the things that I generally do totally unconsciously. It's like some circuits need to be rewired. I think it happens to a lot of people for different reasons, but illness and drugs could certainly be a factor. Sometimes I take it as a reminder to live more consciously.

It's true that there aren't the vicious attacks on Joe anymore, but portraying him as a clownish figure is a bit disconcerting. Overseas he is treated with great respect and honor. It's pretty pathetic that he's given so little respect here at home. His accomplishments since becoming VP tend to be swept under the rug, but he seems to be really happy with his role. Obviously he is doing the things he loves. I guess it is inevitable that the VP will be minimalized by the press. They've done it do most of them in the past.

8. It's past the time for me to post it, and probably a better idea that I didn't anyway --
but I'm glad you remember it! I'll keep looking for it to have it read just in case! :hi:
