No more backfire
Just got the bike (Hyosung GV 650) back from the shop, and the M80 sound effects are gone. It's a miracle the thing was even running, after talking to the tech who worked on it. The adjustment screws in the carburetor pilot circuit were out of sync - one at 3/4 turns out and the other 2 turns out. He adjusted them both to 3½ turns out, getting rid of the overly lean condition between idle and 1/4 throttle that causes backfiring. Also replaced two fouled plugs and cleaned a plugged pilot jet, as well as replacing a kinked float-bowl vent tube.

Runs nice and strong right off idle now, with not a single pop from the tailpipe. Now to see how long I can ride until the snow or ice makes an appearance.
