"You know you are having a bad day
when the 60 Minutes crew is waiting at your office when you get to work."

That is a joke from the 1970s back when you'd watch Mike Wallace make somebody squirm and try to defend the indefensible until they would lose it and demand "you turn that camera off!"

Of course, it becomes harder to ambush people when they are expecting it. They will simply refuse to talk to you. Still, I mourn for what used to be as I am betting that Boehner will be no more challenged tonight than he would be if Oprah or Entertainment Tonight was doing the interview.

1. Although this doesn't seem to be a negative anymore . . .

Any questioning will reveal him as extremely shallow, substanceless, and religiously deranged. In other words a typical Republican. What's going to save Obama's ass in 2012 is how terrible the current crop of 'lican hemi-demagogues are going to be judged as by the electorate.

2. Interviewing a Boner must be an unusual assignment.
Even for a 60 Minutes personality.

Boehner Gets Emotional on ‘60 Minutes’

Incoming House Speaker John Boehner, who has a well-known tendency to cry, will tear up again on CBS’s “60 Minutes” airing Sunday night.

Mr. Boehner has gotten teary in the past when discussing everything from the troop surge in Iraq to the bank bailout; the loss of his GOP leadership position in 1998 to the Republican Party’s victories in the 2010 midterm elections.

According to a CBS report about its show, Mr. Boehner “cried several times during interviews, on topics such as his family and his principles.”

The report also notes that the Ohio Republican tells interviewer Leslie Stahl that the House’s first vote next month will be to shave congressional budgets by 5% — his first step toward cutting the deficit.
