Bernie Sanders moved me today...
I joined DU during the HCR debate, as I was moved by a posting from a fellow DUer (wish I could remember who) and decided my days of passing through were over. And so I joined the fray and have made small comments here and there but never made a posting... until now.

Bernie Sanders has officially become one of my heroes, I have never been moved to tears by a politicians words and even now as try to express my feelings... I find it hard. When he said (and I paraphrase), I AM HERE TO TAKE A STAND FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE,,,, i felt it. It was as real as anything I have ever heard someone speak, I stood in awe in my kitchen happily interrupted while seasoning some chicken from what I was hearing.

To a certain extent, the irony of being able to hear him live was afforded to me because my company is down to working four days a week because of the economy and thus cutting my pay by 20%... go figure.

No matter what side of this argument you may fall on, this man must be respected for the courage and the execution of his convictions... and for that I say bravo Mr Senator - BRAVO!!

Kudos to Senator Brown & Landrieu for standing up at this most important moment. I don't know who else will stand with him since it is still ongoing... but let's stay tuned;

2. He is my hero today. Someone FINALLY is articulating what is happening to America,
and to Americans. Someone is FINALLY putting all the pieces together.

I dearly hope this is the beginning of a new awakening for those in our political class who still have a conscience. We desperately need some heroes right now.

+100000000 Kick and recommending.

4. I'm just now catching up & your post was the first that moved me to respond.
You could have described a Norman Rockwell painting of your moment in the kitchen, stopping to hear a senator's impassioned speech on your behalf. There's not much of those American-themed moments in this hatred-filled country anymore; not much left to inspire a Norman Rockwell to capture a moment of inspirational hope.

Please post more often. Your insight was refreshing.

9. Thank you for your kind words...
I guess at times it can be intimidating around DU, and I'm just a normal Joe trying to make it by with a my small & dysfunctional family :toast:

Bernie gave me something I haven't felt in quite a while, belief in the humanity of our representation. They still exist, their voice has been diminished but not vanquished - let's hope this is the turning point of our generations awakening...

12. But did he really take a stand and actually filibuster? No.
Words without action are just that - words.

I'm glad you were all impressed with what he said and how he said it. The bill is still going to pass so I really don't see where anything was accomplished.

13. Words without action....
that sounds familiar. I see you have taken to the corporate medias meme in acting like it was no big deal... That's your choice, but don't try poo-pooing those of us that felt something because it's really transparent what you are attempting, thanks.
