I saved this picture that on May 2, 2001 somebody sent me.

I remember right after 9/11 there was a frantic panic to stock up on gas at the 'panic' price of $1.79.

*sigh*

1. I still predict it will edge near $4 by the end of summer
Not quite hitting it but close enough to see if people are willing to pay that w/o lowering consumption too much.

Such is the price of addiction.

4. Someone about three or four months ago posted on another site
the quotes from about six or seven republicans when President Clinton was in office and the gas had not gotten to 1.50 yet.

Senensbrenner from Wisconsin was the worst. He said that President Clinton should call the Saudi's, get down on his knees and beg for them to lower the price. After all it was for the American people.

Someone asked him when gas was near 3.00 last year what should bush do. Should he call the Saudi's. He said no, the President of the United States was above begging to a foreign power to lower the price of oil So...what do you think of that from the fat butt fool. I wished he would have lost the election. He is one I wish would be kicked out on his fat butt....

And Kay Hutchinson made about the same statement about President Clinton back then .

Funny how they are all so damn quiet now and not asking bush to do something.

5. The "best" was Smirk himself during the 2000 campaign, who said if he was Prez'nit, he'd solve it
By just getting on the phone with the OPEC and "jawboning".

http://democrats.senate.gov/~dpc/press/05/2005428841.html

(snip)

Yet Candidate Bush Called on Clinton to "Jawbone OPEC" to "Open the Spigots." Bush on how to handle OPEC: "What I think the president ought to do is he ought to get on the phone with the OPEC cartel and say we expect you to open your spigots. One reason why the price is so high is because the price of crude oil has been driven up. OPEC has gotten its supply act together, and it's driving the price, like it did in the past. And the president of the United States must jawbone OPEC members to lower the price."

6. Ah, but that is 'diplomacy', which is verboten.
Sign of weakness!!!!!!!!

Besides, Bush can't sit back and 'have a beer' with the Saudis. Officially he doesn't drink anymore () and the Saudi's can't for religous reasons (again,)
