4. That article is about 18 months old
and while I recall them launching a missile form time to time, I don't recall them getting close to Hawaii.

5. Yes, that incident was not yesterday, but we are among their targets.
For Christ's sake, hellooo...

13. We always have been on their target list
They may or May Not be able to reach us with their weapons. This of course presumes they can hit anything as I recall their previous tests were not overly successful (skip the snarky.....hellooooooo, stuff, I spend a great deal of time studying both military history and todays military). As to what NK will or will not do, it is hard to say as no one and I repeat no one can figure this crowd out.

If it blows up SK will be hurt badly, but the NK will not come out on top, as besides the CV on station you can bet there are most likely several submarines in range with loads of both conventional and nuclear tipped missiles, as well as assorted targeting lists and flight plans for various air force units (read to mean bombers) and probably other Carrier Strike Groups that may be staging in areas that make staging in the area just a short transit.

14. I can see your points,
sorry if I was snarky but I really felt like we are disposable to people on the mainland.

We're part of the USA when people want to come here, but we are like a 6th toe when there is a threat. Think about New Orleans after Katrina...and you could drive there. We would be totally SOL.

I agree with your assessment that North Korea would not come out on top, and that there would be a lot of suffering in South Korea as a result of ending the cease fire.

15. I do not consider anyone to be disposable
and while the comparison to Katrina (my Mom & Sister went through that one, then spent 3 weeks with me here in STL) may be valid, I think two other comparisons carry greater significance that be 12/7/1941 and 9/11/2001. Both of those were man-made attacks upon the soverign soil of the United States and no President would allow such to stand without a response. Granted the one after 9/11 was probably mis-directed and horribly mis-managed (Iraq), but there would certainly be an overwhelming response. Even in the zany world where the NK's seem to live, this is well understood. China would not be real happy about this as having your little buddy zap your customer, who also owes you big bucks is not real high on their list of goodies for Christmas this year.

The NK's are up to whatever it is they are up to, but they understand that getting too far out, will only see their going out of business sale. They have no chance of a military victory (and I am sure that China has told them again and again to not get too stupid).

A web site called Global Security has a list of their order of battle along with what would be the basic war plan. While it is dated, It might be worth a look. Their most modern aircraft is a Mig21 and they don't have many of them, along with pilots with very few hours training.

12. I live on the west coast and am assuming you are talking about N Korea and
their ability to shoot missiles at Hawaii or the W coast. I agree it is something to keep an eye on and N Korea makes me very nervous.
