Pics from Dealey Plaza today (dial up warning)
Edited on Mon Nov-22-10 07:24 PM by rainbow4321
Took the train into Dallas this afternoon. Here are some pics of the gathering crowd, media, conspiracy buffs (who did stop talking long enough at 12:30 for a moment of crowd silence), and other things there today.

7. I have never been there.
Edited on Mon Nov-22-10 09:22 PM by Smarmie Doofus
I was 10 when the bullets flew. It was a pivotal moment of my young life. ( One of several.) And of course, a pivotal moment in history. So... that really doesn't make much sense.

I've always tried to think of another reason to go to Dallas besides visiitng the assassination site. I've never been able to come up with one. And it sounds somehow creepy to make the trip just to visit Dealey.

The pics are eerie. 21st century technology superimposed in the mind's eye on the grainy, etchy pics of 1963.

Today was cloudy... it would appear. 11/22/63 quite bright and sunny.

Thanks for posting. ( Dallas has trains? I gotta get down there. Did you know that LH Oswald lived for some time in the Bronx? There's a pic in the WC report of young LHO at the Bx Zoo.)

2. Seems like conspiracy theory people always look like those guys.
It's probably a conspiracy.

The couple of times in my life I've been by there it's always been easy to find for some reason, it's like all roads in Dallas lead there. There's no stopping to look either, before you know it
you're on the expressway heading in another direction.

4. No kidding....the everyday traffic was zooming by today

I added a pic, I had left off the one of the "x" that is in the middle of the street that marks where JFK's car was when he was shot. Took me a while, had to wait til a red light for the traffic to stop!

When I went to the 40th anniversary they had shut down the street because the gathering crowds were expected (and were) even larger. I remember joining a group that gathered by the x mark as they sang God Bless America
