We don't have all of the answers for a geographical feature more that 35 million miles away that may have been formed millions of years ago. OMG, science is a hoax.

Actually the Hawaiian island volcanoes do have a scarp, its under the Pacific. These volcanoes technically are as tall as Olympus Mons, their base is on the floor of the Pacific.
