FRC's Tony Perkins: Allow TEH GAY by repealing DADT and Obama will have to bring back the draft

Tony Perkins suggests draft will be reinstated if 'don't ask, don't tell' is repealed

The Family Research Council's Tony Perkins predicted Thursday that President Barack Obama will be forced to reinstate the draft if Democrats are successful in repealing the military's controversial "don't ask, don't tell" policy which forces gay, lesbian and trans-gender members to hide their personal lives or face expulsion from the service.

"Barack Obama is opposed to the draft as a matter of principle, to be sure," wrote Perkins in an op-ed for The Daily Caller. "But the president’s drive to repeal the ban on open homosexuality in the military could have this unintended consequence: It could bring back the draft."

Perkins warns service members that if the policy is repealed, "your military family will be confronted again and again with forced acceptance of a lifestyle you regard as immoral."

"Base 'diversity' efforts will promote the homosexual lifestyle. Parents of younger children will be hard-pressed to shield their kids from these. Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) will be turned into advocacy centers for acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle. We may even see a military 'czar' appointed for this purpose," said Perkins.

to decisively end our involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq. Unless your son/daughter/brother/sister/mother/father/cousin/neighbor is overseas in the conflicts, you can forget there are two war theaters going on and you aren't motivated to see them come to a conclusion before your loved one is killed or maimed.

10. A few problems with that.
1. Respect for Charlie is in the toilet so his ideas are just whispers in the wind

2. NOBODY in Washington would risk their office to reinstate the draft.

3. Most people in the Military don't want the draft.

4. There is no need for the draft.

3. Bahahahahahah!
He's out of his ever-lovin' mind. People don't volunteer to join the military JUST to serve their country. People join up because they're poor and can't afford school or need a job that can't be outsourced or need experience and can't find a job to get it.

I doubt that any poor minority looking to get out of a bad neighborhood has ever once thought, "Man, even though I need a steady job, experience and a chance to go to school, I just can't join the military because I might get TEH GAY!"

5. If a draft was reinstated, then DADT would be suspended.
Otherwise, straight guys who didn't want to serve would claim they were gay. The rest of his garbage is just the same bullshit from one of the most powerful hate groups in the country.

More hate and bigotry from this slimy creep. I don't know why this vicious bigot's opinions are given such creedence by the media...having this douchebag weigh in on GLBT issues is like having the Grand Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan to opine about race relations.

6. Military families back DADT repeal, 55% - 38%. (Quinnipiac poll)
This was posted on DU earlier, but it's worth reposting in light of Perkins' misguided, bigoted hyperbole ~ pinto

Repeal "don't ask, don't tell," voters say 58 - 34 percent, including 55 - 38 percent among voters with a member of the military in their family. This is the first time military families have supported repeal of "don't ask, don't tell."

7. Well, if it keeps relgious nutcases out of the military - I'm for it
It would probably increase unit cohesiveness and battle readiness.

8. More scare tactics
This reminds me when the Repugs gathered seniors to go to anti-health care rallies crying about ending up in a coffin. They know they can't combat the report that the majority of the people don't care if those serve with open homos, so they scare other people, who aren't even in the service, that if you allow us homos to say we're homos, then the draft will be reinstated.

I mean come on, the majority of the people I know that serve in the armed services, are gay/lesbian. Of those folks, it's an "open" secret that they're gay to their units.

I think these lunkheads would be really surprised if every closeted gay was kicked out of the military, the medical field, teaching and social services (and the TSA <-- joke). They'd be hard-pressed to fill the positions held by closeted gays.

12. And gay marriage will lead to man on dog marriages
and gays will be running rampant in the streets and there will be gay recruitment centers on every street corner, and pretty soon WE"LL ALL BE GAY!!!!!

Oh and one day Tony Perkins *cough* PSYCHO *cough* ( hey he's got his parents to thank for that one) might open his mouth and something stupid might not come out. I mean there is as much chance of that as the draft being re-instated...
