Wisconsin man shoots TV, holds police at bay for 15 hours over Bristol's "dancing".
Allegedly set off by Bristol Palin’s appearance on “Dancing with the Stars,” a rural Black Earth man kept police at bay outside his home for 15 hours Monday and Tuesday before he surrendered to police.

Steven N. Cowan, 66, railed at the television as the daughter of former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin appeared on the ABC program, his wife told police Monday after she fled from the town of Vermont house, according to a criminal complaint filed in Dane County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, Cowan and his wife were watching “Dancing with the Stars” when Cowan jumped up and swore as Bristol Palin appeared, saying something about “the (expletive) politics.” Cowan was upset that a political figure’s daughter was on the show when he didn’t think she was a good dancer, the complaint states.

1. I don't watch that kind of TV, but I can't understand how anyone can get that upset...

...over something on the tube.

You always have the option of simply changing the channel, or turning the stupid thing off.

4. That was merely the precipitating event
I'm sure there is something much more substantial beneath the surface.

7. I hope you are right. I have often thought that people who obsess over stuff on TV have "issues".

12. Like seeing a Palin everywhere he turns?
Hell, just seeing the ads for Sarah Palin's Alaska is enough to make me want to shoot my TV.

But changing channels is cheaper.

3. Apparently he has not grasped the concept of using a remote control to
change the channel.

Heads be just a poppin' when Bristol appears on the teevee.

Clearly that man was already on the edge. Wonder how many more like him are out there waiting to be set off?
