New FL congressman to bring "vile, vicious, despicable" leftwing to its knees.
That is the Republican who was elected to replace Democratic congressman Ron Klein in Florida. He said this on a right wing radio show.

Just when you thought it could not possibly get any worse in Florida, along comes Allen West.

Allen West's first choice for chief of staff won't be taking the job. | AP Photo

From the Florida blog The Reid Report:

Allen West unplugged, vows to bring left ‘to its knees

The man who would have been right wing shock jock Joyce Kaufman’s boss in Washington, newly minted Congressman-elect Allen West, issued a sober statement in response to her withdrawing as his chief of staff Thursday … and then he went on the radio …

Letting his bandanna down, as it were, the biker mag columnist, ex-military mock executioner and musket musterer chosen to lead a District that includes toney Palm Beach, ripped the people he thinks brought Joyce down. From Naked Politics:

The incoming congressman just called into Joyce Kaufman’s radio show and told her while she’s taking on the left in South Florida, he’II “fight them on the battle field in Washington DC.

“I’m even more commited, even more focused on making sure that this liberal, progressive, socialist agenda, this leftwing vile, vicious, despicable machine that is out there is soundly brought to its knees,” he said.

Apparently during the campaign Ron Klein supporters put up a website called The Real Allen West.

The Real Allen West

This is a list just from the front page:

OUTRAGEOUS:

* > West says liberals want soldiers to die
* > West fails to pay his own taxes and bills
* > West: People with Coexist Bumper Stickers Would Give Away Our Country

* > West says Dems think "Christians are terrorists"
* > West: Take up arms against the government
* > West: liberals detest America
* > West: liberals seek to destroy God and Country

That right wing radio host he was talking to about the despicable liberals was going to be his chief of staff...until her own ugly remarks got out to the public.

Conservative radio host bails on chief of staff job

Her words:

Kaufman’s remarks were circulating around the Internet this week after the Florida Republican announced her as his pick. “I am convinced that the most important thing the founding fathers did to ensure me my First Amendment rights was they gave me a Second Amendment. And if ballots don’t work, bullets will,” she said, noting that some things were “worth dying for.”

Just moments after the press release went out, Kaufman took to the airwaves to blast her critics.

“(There are) congressman sitting up there who have every kind of ethical and immoral and illegal behavior. That’s not a story to them. Instead it’s ‘round the clock, fulltime coverage of “Look at this! We just got a target to hit. Absolutely Saul Alinsky rule 13 playing out: identify, isolate, freeze, and escalate, and I’m not going to be a part of the escalation. Not happening. Not gonna use me. You may think that because you made me change my mind, that you got the win, but I believe that God always gets the win, and he wanted me right here where I am, where I’ve been very successful. It’s not like I left because I didn’t have a great job. I was gonna take a pay cut, a dramatic pay cut. So the only regret I have is that after all that hard work, and after watching this great American hero get elected in CD 22, that you people won’t accept that there’s gonna be a conservative voice from South Florida. A conservative black man from South Florida, and you can do your very best to bring him down, but I’m not going to be a part of it. There will be no lynching with my participation. I’m gonna expose you for who you are and in the end, the victory will go to the righteous, it always does.”

All that on top of getting Rick Scott for governor, Marco Rubio for senator, and Adam Putnam for Commissioner of Agriculture. And Opie Putnam is wasting no time either. He and Scott among others have already appealed to the EPA to postpone water safety rules for the state.

This election has so many consequences for our state that I don't even know where to begin.

and his staff.

His whole campaign was a series of "West did this, West said that, West is a crook, West is an extremist, etc".

The only mention of Ron Klein in his campaign was "I am Ron Klein and i paid for this ad".

Dammit, Mr. Klein, you were in congress for four years. What did you do there that would make us want to vote for you instead of Allen West?

14. He's a scumbag.
While serving in Taji, Iraq, on August 20, 2003, as commander of the 2d Battalion, 20th Field Artillery Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel West was in charge of an interrogation of a civilian Iraqi police officer who was suspected of having pertinent information regarding attacks on American soldiers in the area. Interrogators had learned that the detainee had information about a planned ambush. When the interrogators were unable to extract the needed important information for some time, LTC West was asked to come try to obtain the important information. As the detainee continued to hold back the information, LTC West fired his pistol past the detainee's head into a clearing barrel, frightening (but not physically harming) the detainee and getting him to finally give the information. According to Lt. Col. West's sworn statement,<6> the detainee informed West that:

“The attack was to occur Friday morning in Saba al Boor vicinity of the police station by positioned snipers supposedly being brought in from Fallujah. The detainee was to ID my vehicle and myself for these rooftop firers. We took this information and the following day established flask CPs and used AH-64s overhead. There was no attack and no further attacks have emanated from the town since the apprehension of the detainee and his named associates. ”

At least one man was apprehended as a result of the information obtained through the detainee's interrogation. His home was searched, but no plans for attacks on Americans or weapons were found. Colonel West testified that he did not know whether "any corroboration" of a plot was ever found, adding: "At the time I had to base my decision on the intelligence I received. It's possible that I was wrong abou the detainee, Mr. Hamoodi."<7>

West, who at the time was just short of having 20 years of service, was charged with violating articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. West was processed through an Article 32 hearing in November 2003, where he admitted wrongdoing, was fined $5,000 over two months for misconduct and assault. He then submitted his resignation, and was allowed to retire with full benefits in the summer of 2004.<8>

At a hearing, West was asked by his defense attorney if he would do it again. "If it's about the lives of my men and their safety, I'd go through hell with a gasoline can," he said.<8> Apparently not knowing West's gun was aimed into a barrel, "Hamoodi cracked and gave information about the planned ambush on West's convoy, thwarting the attack." West said there were no further ambushes on U.S. forces in Taji until he was relieved of his leadership post on October 4."<8> "After West's resignation was brought to public attention the next fall, he received over two thousand letters and e-mails from the American public offering him moral support. In addition, a letter was drafted to the Secretary of the Army, its signatories being ninety-five members of Congress in West's support.<7> Later, speaking to Republican audiences, West claimed "It wasn’t torture. Seeing Rosie O'Donnell naked would be torture."<9>

West spoke in September 2010 in defense of a group of US military personnel convicted of war crimes known as the "Leavenworth 10."

Leavenworth is right up the road.

These men are war criminals. While I believe we should have charged the war criminals in charge of the whole mess, we also shouldn't be releasing any of the war criminals who have been charged. Their talking point is that they killed al qaeda so they should be hailed as heroes. And I find that disgusting.

I can tell you a lot of it came to light in 2000, and it got worse in 2004 when Bush used the far ideological right to win.

They were empowered, and our party did not fight back hard enough against them.

41. I Will Miss Crist !
Contrary to DU's comments during the election....he was a good governor for Florida. Save Our Florida Homes was a good program which helped us secure our windows, doors and roofs in the aftermath of our terrible 2004-2005 hurricane season. He boycotted the Teacher debacle...and was moderate compaired to what this State has endured in the past. We are now doomed with Republicans at every congresional Florida wheelhouse. Thanks for the advice about Meek. That worked well, didn't it?

46. If you have the stomach for it, here is some video of Kaufman
at a tea party rally, I think. In the 2nd one, West is standing in the background.

http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/11/11/v-fullstory/1921791/broward-school-alert-ends-with.html

I don't even want to post the videos in the video forum, they are so hate-filled. But the crowd cheers.

"About an hour into Thursday's program, West called the show and promised to take on her liberal critics.

``I'm even more committed, even more focused on making sure that this liberal, progressive, socialist agenda, this leftwing vile, vicious, despicable machine that is out there is soundly brought to its knees,'' West said.

Kaufman blames the liberal media for trying to bring down conservative politicians. Liberal MSNBC host Rachel Maddow this week featured video of Kaufman supposedly inciting violence, and other websites have accused her of suggesting hanging illegal immigrants. According to The Reid Report, a blog authored by political columnist Joy-Ann Reid, whose work has appeared in The Miami Herald, Kaufman, who often talks on the air about her weapons collection, was recorded at a July 4 political rally telling attendees ``if ballots don't work, bullets will,'' to remove politicians with contrary views to their own from office.

In her radio program Thursday, Kaufman pushed back against depictions of herself as a person who would incite people to take up arms. After saying she wants to ``exterminate'' the left, she laughed and said, ``I mean in a humane way, trap them and release them in their homes.''

She suggested she would use her radio show to go after Democrats in South Florida, listing districts held by Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Alcee Hastings and Ted Deutch.

``It's going to be your biggest nightmare that I didn't go off quietly to Washington,'' she said.

63. She quit because investigators are looking into her radio show's hate rhetoric
...as the trigger for a districtwide school lockdown four days ago, involving a phoned-in and e-mailed-in threat to her radio program, targeting area schools and government buildings. 230,000 students' learning was interrupted because of radical right wing hate threats.

Interesting how this news angle is not being reported widely--- glossing it over entirely by focusing on her stated reason for stepping down to shield Allen West's reputation from her wild rhetoric. --cough---

In a nutshell:

This past Wednesday in South Florida, Broward County schools underwent districtwide lockdown because of a threat of a mass shooting that was e-mailed and phoned into Joyce Kaufman's rabid right radio show in South Florida.

Who is Joyce Kaufman? She was recently named as the new chief of staff of newly elected U. S. Representative Allen West (R-FL), a rabid tea party member.

She is also a lightning rod for public hate speech.

The investigators in Broward County are looking at the incendiary speech on Ms. Kaufman's radio program as the catalyst for the emergence of this specific threat against the schools.

Fortunately, no one was injured at the schools, but high-level investigations continue.

Ms. Kaufman has now angrily quit West's staff.

Discussed a couple of days ago in this thread

and here.

CRISTOBAL HERRERA / Sun Sentinel
Joyce Kaufman, 850WFTL radio presenter, poses at her radio station in Pompano Beach, on Wednesday July 28, 2010.

November 11, 2010

Radio host Joyce Kaufman, whose comments may have triggered a threat against Broward County schools, has announced she won't become chief of staff for conservative Congressman-elect Allen West. Meanwhile the phone call warning of the attack that led to a three-hour lockdown has been traced to a caller outside South Florida, Pembroke Pines Police said Thursday.

Kaufman said she didn't want to tarnish West's reputation.

``I will not be used in an electronic lynching by proxy,'' Kaufman said Thursday.

Police said the call that came into WFTL 850 AM was made by a woman from outside South Florida, who said her husband was planning to carry out a mass shooting in Broward County.

Because the threat involved government buildings and because it was made from another part of the state, the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement have joined the investigation.

According to Capt. Dan Rakofsky with the Pembroke Pines Police, WFTL received an e-mail addressed to Kaufman late Tuesday, expressing the threat.

The call came into the radio station the next morning.

While police will not say whether the call and e-mail were threatening toward Kaufman or in defense of her, there is some suggestion the e-mailer may have been upset that Kaufman has come under media scrutiny lately for alleged inflammatory comments she has made on her radio show.

.....

Florida has been under mass assault since December 12, 2000, when the Supreme Court paved the way for a war criminal to take the White House.

We are still on the descent.

68. I have no idea where Florida will be in 2 more months, much less years.
This rabid hatred boiling out of radical conservative shout radio and tea party rallies, fueling the actions of disturbed individuals who steep themselves in this violent rhetoric every day, leaves the rest of us wondering how much longer before something unthinkable happens.

Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment (PDF), Department of Homeland Security, April 7, 2009

* (U) Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and
adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups),
and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or
rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a
single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.

Discussed here

And with Florida's entire state government now overtaken by right wingers, we shouldn't expect any semblance of the rule of law any time soon.

How has it come to this? The Supreme Court installing an illegitimate president on December 12, 2000, against the will of the people.

52. Wow...
Witnessing the continuing disintegration of our species has understandably become a source of fear and anxiety for many of us. I think it's particularly difficult for those of us who see the bigger picture with crystal clarity.

First of all, madfloridian, we mustn't forget that the newest, shiny toys for the 'Captains of Industry' are the electronic voting machines. I firmly believe the Corporatists have developed strategies for "taking the temperatures" of definitive electorates nationwide to determine where they can play with the voting outcomes and insure that their favored candidates get in office. In short, we get to vote, but this 'right' is sustained primarily as a sop to maintain the illusion that We the People play a vital role in who gets in office. What a crock.

Second, we must acknowledge and address the long held perspective of the aforementioned 'Captains of Industry'--that the vast majority of us are silly, infantile, uneducated, pathetic individuals whose autonomy is secondary to the brilliance and "God-given" superiority of the wealthy elite. Ayn Rand's paean to corporatists and Edwards Bernays' subversively successful manipulation of the hoi polloi are just two of the many ways the 'Ruling Elite' has secured their control of the 'unwashed masses.'

Third, we can rest assured that the Republicans and their servile media lapdogs are celebrating a Phyrric victory, since their efforts to secure absolute power and control can only hasten the demise of our nation, if not our entire species.

I recently heard a fellow Democrat adjure an audience (which included Cindy Sheehan and Colonel Ann Wright, among others) to recognize that we all share responsibility for our species' current state of affairs, either through action or inaction. To an extent--at that time--I agreed with him, but I've since come to understand that those of us who do not have political power, or the inordinate wealth that insures such power, have long felt powerless to effect change.

Our sole path to change requires such a radical decision, most of us shun the various analyses that lead us toward this inevitable conclusion. No matter how much we might struggle to avoid the inevitable, We the People MUST have a revolution. My hope has become that we will use the internet and other contemporary technology to accomplish our revolution without violence and mayhem. But, for all of my optimism, I doubt the Corporate Megalomaniacs intend to go quietly into the night...

74. I've lived north and south Florida
Miami - back when I was a young kid, the Southern Baptists still ran Miami.

I STILL remember that OJ Hag, Anita Bryant, starting out her Save Our Children, or whatever it was called, in the late 1970s.

After about 1980 - Miami became an international-type city. It was fun, though there was a LOT of crime and corruption. I am sure there was as much corruption before then. The only RWers were, like, the Mas Canosa Cubans. They were the ones running black ops out in the Everglades...

Fort Lauderdale - was Dem. I see this Allen guy is now representing my old district. That is scary, scary...

NE FL - well, pretty conservative. But, not as much as parts of Georgia, where I am now.

But this man saying something about bringing liberals to their knees... not smart of him.

Good luck with the raving loon act in Washington, the only thing you will accomplish is to embarrass the power brokers within your own party, who will quickly move to marginalize your ass after giving your political opponents ammunition to use against you and your party.
