November 6, 2010

With just days to go before George W. Bush’s memoir, Decision Points, hits bookstores (on November 9), and with reports on the book’s contents doing the rounds after review copies were made available to the New York Times and Reuters, it will be interesting to see how many media outlets allow the former President the opportunity to try to salvage his reputation, how many are distracted by his spat with Kanye West or his claim that he thought about replacing Dick Cheney as Vice President in 2004, and how many decide that, on balance, it would be more honest to remind readers and viewers of the former President’s many crimes — including the illegal invasion of Iraq, and the authorization of the use of torture on "high-value detainees" seized in the "War on Terror."

4. If only we could find evidence that Bush had been in the Japanese military
Remember, when it comes to war crimes - it's not who you waterboard, it's who's holding the bucket.

5. "Somehow, I'm not that bothered." What the local radio wingnut said about Shrub's torture & confessi
He sent me the article about Shrub's bragging & saying he would do it again. After the election he sent me an article about Dem candidates who lost blaming OBAMA, and I replied:

About that article you sent about Dems who lost blaming OBAMA & the “tone deaf” White House.

Re, your: “sounds a little like the Bush White House”

Like where you said, with an article about Shrub’s bragging in his “book” that he had approved torture, “Somehow I’m not that bothered.”

If you wingnuts aren’t that bothered about torture, why don’t we just admit that we live in an anything-goes condition, that what we say about the Constitution and religion and our supposedly greatest country in the world is all b.s.

Wingnuts despise “Old Europe” and its defeatism, how Italy and France and Spain rolled over, but those places have a thousand years of seeing-it-all and what goes with that: 1) Here we go again. 2) Whoever’s on top today will be bottom tomorrow.

It’s like Tiberius, who had had the long life of ultimate power and treachery and had the option of choosing a noble successor, but was so burned out that he chose Caligula, “ ‘I am nursing a viper in Rome's bosom,’ Tiberius observed, and named Caligula his adopted son and successor. Some thought that he had picked Caligula because, compared to him, Tiberius’ rule would look good.”

So, what do we KNOW? That GINGRICH is a hypocritical scoundrel, that he cheated on two wives (at least) while castigating CLINTON. And what does the past GINGRICH have to do with NOW? Oh, just that rottenness is at the core of wingnuts. We know about BONER’s alcoholism (that was some alcohol-dementia crying he did on victory night) and that he has cruised golf vacations worth many hundreds of thousands of dollars from fatcats, and that McCONNELL is at odds with others in his party. AND that the T-Baggers will exert rebellion, SO we know that the whole thing will go up in flames.

You tell me what you know, what your high level Rethug contacts whisper.
