Let's stop with the macho bullshit about Boehner crying.
Calling into question his manliness because he cried is the same mentality that that leads to calling people pussies and fags because they don't fit the societal view of what it means to be a "man." Which leads to much worse things down to the line to those that are homosexual.

Personally I thought it was hilarious that he was so damn drunk giving that speech, but let's stop the meme that real men don't cry. And that if they do they somehow can't lead the country. He's going to be a shitty Speaker because he's an asshat--it has nothing to do with his crying.

But the majority of the comments I read aren't pointing out that hypocrisy but making a comment about it being bad in general. My take anyway.

and everything to do with his drunken rambling. Real men can cry all they want, but during a rambling drunken victory speech upon taking the reigns of part of our Government, his mental state is fair game.

And therefore it's okay for them to cry.

Ridiculous, but that's what it is. That's the MSM narrative, as well as the unconscious psychology in the average home.

When Dems cry, on the other hand, it is because they are emo wimps, unbalanced, hippies, etc.

I have to fight back tears when I read the part of Mockingbird where Scout meets Boo outloud to my class. I will most likely cry if I make my National teacher certification this month. Jon Stewart cried after 9/11 on national TV. Is our maturity in question?

48. et tu? Of all people, I would expect you to support this.
So if they call him a pussy for this, would you then think it is bad? I guess I just really don't get you is where I'm at. I know you and I don't agree on a lot and I'm cool with that. But the vigor with which you attack gender issues when they apply to females would, in my opinion, spill over to this issue. And you wouldn't accept "they're being sarcastic" on those threads, imho.

I responded to this gem on another thread (I won't name the person but they have over 2K posts and have been here 3 years).
What a wuss is what I posted on my FB update last night. He didn't get the memo that "boys, don't cryyyyyyyyyyyyyyy". And he's going to be my comic relief the next two years.

I did not grow up with and as an adult I don't surround myself with wimpy crybaby men. Maybe it's holding onto gender bias - but I don't care.

I don't care.

My Wednesday morning thought? He can be 'broken'. Any male that cries and weeps like that? He's WEAK. Just WEAK.

How the hell is a man's man like Anthony Wiener or Barney Frank, going to even look at this guy with the even the tiniest amount of respect.

Ahd he's been a cry baby before. This wasn't because he 'won' - it's because he's weak. It was just so over the top and well: Weak.

56. i was in the thread for all of 30 sec. i typed
cries like a boy. totally silly statement if it isnt obvious. those are the replies i saw. i saw no one making comments like that, but that alone is a stupid post.

didnt think people were really making statements like that.

i just watched my 15 yr old son work at keeping in the tears yesterday afternoon, and failing, telling me his heartbroken story. talk to him as if they werent there. took a couple years for him to understand, his tears are his emotion alone and no judgment on my part for them. he is allowed. he is safe with me to feel.

so, now i explained myself to you. no, i doubt you know me. and no, i dont mind a man/boy crying feeling his emotion. i see it no different from anyone else.

the sarcasm comes in the manly man premise the repugs live by yet they are no more manly men than anyone else and the absurdity of the mentality.
