TeaRepublicans fight rising panic as polls suggest Democrats are closing the gap

Is the tide about to turn? Republicans fight rising panic as polls suggest Democrats are closing the gap - thanks to the Tea Party

WITH polls in key battleground states showing a swing in support for Democratic Senate candidates, Republicans are left with the nagging fear that the November 2 mid-term elections might not be quite the massive triumph that many have predicted.

In Pennsylvania, Democratic Representative Joe Sestak has trailed Republican Pat Toomey for months, and a Republican victory has always seemed likely, given that it's a Republican-trending year in this perpetually contested state.

But recent polls suggest Sestak has closed the gap, and Republican leaders are imploring supporters not to panic even as they ask themselves: 'What's going on?'

The answer, it seems is straightforward. Embattled Democrats have seized on a common claim: A dangerous fringe movement - the Tea Party - has taken over the Republican Party.

1. If the teabaggers and repubs don't do as well as they expect, it should be entertaining to see them
turn on each other in a circular firing squad. :)

3. Agree. We may need HazMat suits but it could be
quite a show.

7. If the teabaggers take 20 or so house seats...
...they will be told to sit down and shut up by Boehner. They won't listen. There won't be the any lockstep in the Repug caucus. That's when the circular firing squad really starts - and it's going to be fun

2. The Tea party is the republican party since Reagan.
It's the back drop of the last general election
That makes the baggers stick out.

I mean what's Contract for America if not nutbaggery?

Let's see if they can top themselves.

5. I remember the "Dead Republican Party" threads after the last election.
The Republicans are always looking for a gimmick, because their message is always about taxes and government regulation.

6. Teabaggers are just republicans trying to distance themselves from the bush administration.
