I have a pipe dream
I would like to see in my lifetime this amendment passed:

Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.

Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.

I worry how the Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade has been chipped away by states and fanatics.

I worry how members of Congress who are pro choice make deals to steer clear of a "divisive" issue.

I think the ERA would go a long way in ensuring and giving more rights to everyone.

It's such a simple amendment. But to think it will ever pass in my lifetime is a pipe dream. No one ever talks about it anymore. There is no serious push by anyone to try and get it back on the agenda.

1. Women will one day discover why it was so important to the vocal few to have our rights guaranteed
by the Constitution rather than just written into changeable law.

:sigh:

I hope I do not live to see that day.

2. The trend, unfortunately says ...
that you will live to see that day unless you are terminal and only have a few weeks to live.

I stongly suggest that you find the name of a good clinic in Canada and get prepared to pay cash (which, actually, is a pitance compared to what you would pay in the US for better care.

Time to either fight like hell or leave.
