Foes long knew risks of electing Obama(Columbus Dispatch, October 6, 2010)I'd like to thank letter writer V.M. King for my morning laugh in the Sept. 27 Dispatch, where she wrote, “the tea party never intended to allow (President Barack) Obama to prove himself.”
The difference between the tea partiers and King is that we chose not to ignore the information about Obama that was out there before the election took place.
So, after 19 months of proving himself, we have socialized medicine, the takeover of General Motors, bailouts, cash for clunkers and numerous other policies that were against the majority of constituents, not to mention double-digit unemployment. Obama and his Democrats rammed through a stimulus that wasted a trillion dollars and has provided little gross domestic product and few private-sector jobs.
Obama surrounded himself with avowed communists and socialists, as we feared he would.JEFF JANTZ
Hilliard
This goofball Jantz character has written numerous letters to the Dispatch criticizing Obama, denying climate change, etc. - he covers all the lunatic talking points of the far right in such an exquisitely annoying way!
Jantz says that Obama's stimulus, which of course was "rammed through" (didn't he mean "rammed down our throats"? Get it right, Jeffie), was "wasted". But elsewhere in the
same edition of the paper bearing Jeffie's fact-free tirade, an article tells us that the ultimate cost of the stimulus will be $50 billion, not "a trillion dollars", and that economists agree it saved us from a Depression and thus was not "wasted". (Indeed, it should have been larger.)
Obama did not bring us "socialized medicine". Lord, how I wish he had.
But Li'l Jeffie really gave me my morning laugh with his final sentence, which might just as well have read "By the way, I am a right-wing moron trapped in 1956, still muttering about 'commies' under every bed". Talk about undermining your own message!
My friends, this is the quality of our opposition. It is very, very low.
