For O’Donnell, Rewinding to the ’90s

Christine O’Donnell’s opponents are going to the videotape, and there is plenty of it.

New VHS-era video clips have popped up on television and on YouTube on a daily basis since Tuesday, when she secured the Republican nomination for the Senate in Delaware.

There is the prospect of more to come: on Friday night, Bill Maher, the liberal host of HBO’s “Real Time,” gleefully told his audience that Ms. O’Donnell had been a guest on 22 episodes of his defunct ABC series “Politically Incorrect” in the 1990s, and that he still has all the tapes. Mediate features a clip of Mr. Maher discussing his trove of O’Donnell videos.

Jokingly or not, Mr. Maher said that if Ms. O’Donnell refuses to appear on “Real Time,” “I’m going to show a clip every week.”

“It’s like a hostage crisis,” he continued. “Every week you don’t show up, I’ll throw a body out.”

Already, clips of Ms. O’Donnell’s over-a-decade-old appearances on “Real Time” and elsewhere have made their way to YouTube, providing lively fodder for her opponents. In a 1999 clip broadcast by Mr. Maher on Friday night, here courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, Ms. O’Donnell said she had “dabbled into witchcraft.”
