An e-mail a Teabagger was passing

around at the coffee shop this morning. It is totally ridiculous but I can't find anything debunking this on snopes, fact check, urban legends etc. It is an obituary of a 25 year old with 9 children listed that was shot and it says he was an entrepreneur. I have found by Googling the man's name Larmondo "Flair" Allen has died every February 7th since 2004. The Tea Party e-mail they were passing around claimed he was on welfare and had 9 children and was getting $1500 each for a total of $13500 a month and $156,000 a year. As you will notice in typical Teabagger style they don't only have trouble spellen they also can't do their goesintas, $13500 is $162,000. On top of that I would assume the parents would get a certain welfare check on their own in addition to the children, heck all together they were probably making at least $200,000 per year. Just what would someone in NOLA get on welfare per child? I am guessing maybe $100 at best?

If you Google the name there are thousands of links to that story on Teabagger and other right wing sites and they aren't racists they say. Read them they will make you sick.

when my husband and i were on tanf, we had one daughter and got $435 a month cash assistance and food stamps (don't remember how much in food stamps). granted i live in ny, but i am pretty sure that this is a load of hooey as most of these things passed around are.

according to a comment on that link "As of 2008 the MAXIMUM benefit for a family of 10 in Louisiana is $512; combined with food stamps the monthly benefit would be $1,179 for a family of ten. I have no idea how to calculate free medical, free lunches and so on, but I think it is safe to assume that it is much less than $156,000/year! Also, there is a theoretical time limit of 60 months LIFETIME for recipients to receive benefits although children who get benefits for 60 months are also eligible to receive 60 months of benefits as an adult."

don't forget that he wouldn't get a time of TANF money. The children and their mothers would, and only for two years, so that 9 of them on TANF at one time would be quite a reproductive feat.

The only thing new about this particular lie is that they're focusing on the putatively black male as the problem, not the black welfare queen with no morals who pops another baby out every year just for the extra thirty cents a day that baby will bring.

The maximum social security disability benefit is $2,492.00 a month. In the above example, assuming the individual was married and had the nine children (and the spouse was taking care of all nine of them) the maximum family benefit is $4399.50. This means the disabled individual with a spouse and a very large family would get $6891 a month or $82,698 before tax - yes this would be taxable income.

This is assuming the individual was earning a lot of money - I put in $200,000 a year of taxable income, my birth date, a year I would retire normally, and the previous years income as the same $200k.

Note: This is for social security disability insurance benefit. This is not TANF, Food Stamps or anything like that for really poor people. The benefit to such individuals is much less than what Social Security Disability gives out.

Of course googling or binging for the aforementioned individual reveals a lot of supposed information on him - Mr. Allen had two first degree murder convictions, his brother was incarcerated for dealing in unlawful drugs... and a lot of people with an awfully closed mind and having a belief that Mr. Allen was milking the welfare system. I didn't know the guy, I didn't know what he did for a living... but the notion Mr. Allen was making a six figure income off of "welfare" is laughable.

11. Well if you go to the link for the obituary it says nothing about

welfare, food stamps or anything. The obituary says the guy was an entrepreneur and lists his children, that's all, the Teabagger just made up the rest about the welfare and him getting $1500 for each child. The Teabagger passing this shit around is a retired Chiropractor and I am sure he knows damn well it's bullshit. He comes up with this kind of shit everyday and leaves copies of it at the store for the morans to read. That's the sad part they tell these morons any derogatory story about blacks, Hispanics, Muslims or any other non WASP American they believe it. Now the Teabagger is retired and I am sure worth several million gets SS, Medicare and a veterans diability but he is worried that people on welfare, unemployment etc. are getting rich.
