I know we're sick of mosque threads, but my thoughts

Basically, I think zoning and urban planning are always unfair, arbitrary, and full of political landmines.

Cordoba is certainly not the only group who has wanted to do something with a property in Manhattan and faced opposition (rarely from so far away from Bleecker & Broadway, but stilll).

If they end up getting shut down, that will suck. But things have sucked worse in urban planning, and for even worse reasons than this.

the important story is the out-of-control racist Islamophobic fear campaign being waged by conservatives. The people that oppose the mosque aren't thinking straight, they don't even know why they oppose it, they're being manipulated and only a few people are standing up to the fearmongers.

2. The truly sad part

is the immeasurable damage this is doing to our status and reputation worldwide. Every time Newtie or sarah make a comment about Muslims is a victory for Bin Laden. Now, sarah's a moron, and I doubt she even understands this. But Newtie's a fairly bright man- doesn't he care at all about our future?
