Was in a tent.

A big white canvass tent!

1. Geez, let it die a natural death willya
I mean I agree with you, a lot of DU'ers have way overreacted to this non event but the threads of fake outrage have already dwindled to almost nothing.

Why do you want to poke a stick into a hornet's nest?

3. Are you kidding?
There were a couple of posters in full class warfare mode over the whole thing.

I think they were building a guillotine between posts.

9. Beautiful dress.
Let's hope he has more integrity than his father. That's one thing I admired about Chelsea. I never saw her as a materialistic kind of kid. Maybe other people saw her that way too, which is why the tag caught everybody by surprise.

13. Vera Wang hit another home run. I love her designs. As to
Chelsea, I really don't know who she is but I wish her and Marc the very best.

I will say though, that she made an incredibly radiant bride and there seems to be a light within her that seems honest and true.

35. That smile is real. I've known brides who parcticed their smiles--
gotta make certain there isn't too much teeth, the eyes aren't small and crinkled; etc.

That's spontaneous and sincere; very refreshing.

11. Despite the relative modest opulence of a wedding among the ruling class
those of us in the lower strata of society are still waiting for the much promised recovery.

There are two classes in America: the super rich and everyone else. We are everyone else!

they got an incredible break on the price.

The place looks beautiful and Stanford White designed some incredible buildings.

BTW... When ever I think of him, I can't help remembering him as he was portrayed in EL Doctrow's "Ragtime", one of my favorite books of all time.

19. That's what I thought and forgot to mention! What I do find
interesting is that all along the Hudson River (I live about 40 miles south of Rhinebeck, near the Hudson) were retreats for the Robber Barons, including Astor. Nearby is the Vanderbilt Estate, and Cornelius was another one of that group.

As I place my tinfoil hat on tightly, I muse that there might have been some symbolism in the Clintons choosing that location. When I loosen it up I realize that they most likely liked the "price", the size of the property and for the drop dead gorgeous views. If someone offered it to me for free I'd have my kids get married there in less than a heartbeat. :)

I went to Bard College for a year so I remember how beautiful it was, including the historic old mansions...class warfare being what it is, it can be hard to admit to feeling the envy and the romanticism. But I did.

16. What a lovely house that is
I used to live in Bergen County, New Jersey and sometimes on a Saturday my mom and I would drive on the east side of the Hudson, up Rt. 9 to see some of the historic sites like FDR's home. There are several lovely old homes along the route that are open to visitors in Westchester and Duchess counties. I hope Chelsea and Mark are very happy.

All the RWers are out pout-ragin' that Jenna's wedding cost $100,000. And they know that HOW? And Chelsea's cost a gazillion billion million, how do they know? Bunch of pout-raged phonies.

23. Now it's time for some pout-rage of my own...
There is no damn way Jenna Bush's wedding cost $100,000. There's no way...

Well, maybe there is: if the two garbage cans full of Coors Light were really made out of platinum, they might have spent $100,000. But seriously, guys, you can get a wedding cake at Walmart for a couple hundred bucks, a big tray full of Vienna sausages in barbecue sauce is pretty cheap and people like it, and as for a dress Jenna probably followed in the footsteps of her mom and went through the White House looking for a curtain the right color.

47. When I think of a Bristol Palin wedding...
I am always reminded of an old Army cadence they probably won't let you sing anymore, "The Prettiest Girl." One of the lines says, "the wedding was a formal one, her daddy had a white shotgun." (The cadence is about getting a drunk girl pregnant, which might explain why they won't let you sing it anymore. They DEFINITELY quit letting us sing the stanza that said 'I put it in, I pulled it out, it felt so good I had to shout.' And trust me, as dirty cadence goes that one was MILD. We had some seriously rank ones.)
