President Obama, we will support you against Fox News's outlandish attacks.
President Obama, when Fox News and Andrew Breitbart make outlandish claims against you and people working for your administration, we will not buy into their ridiculous narrative. We understand that no one working for your administration is an evil Maoist dictator-to-be who wants to kill the rich and feed them to the poor.

This is something that almost every Democrat can agree with. For the most part, we want a system that is fair and a system that works, regardless of whether Fox News thinks it's good, free-market Capitalism or bad, evil Socialism. We will never believe lies supported by doctored videos, quotes taken out of context, deliberately false logic, and blatant race-baiting, and we will actively speak out against these lies to make sure the truth is known.

We have your back on this, Mr. President, so don't go around thinking it's necessary to fire people from your administration that Fox News targets for smear campaigns. You aren't going to win them over to your side even if you hand the keys to the White House to Rupert Murdoch. They won't even ask for his birth certificate. But we will always support you if you take a stand against these attacks.

If you do not take a stand against these attacks, however, there are consequences within the Democratic party and the liberal/progressive movement in general. Some of us will always support you unconditionally, but many of us will lose faith in you if you let Fox News dictate your policy decisions. And many of us will do so very vocally, and others will simply get fed up and drop out. This is not a threat, this is a statement of fact. And it seems clear to me that the number of independents you may gain by doing what Fox News tells you to do is never going to outweigh the number of people among your base who get fed up and drop out.

Please do not bow your head to Fox News. You are creating divisions within your own party among people who want to stand united to defend you. And stand with you we will, if you stand up for yourself. You can count on us.

Signed,
Alex Wickersham

and anyone else who agrees.

1. Would you happen to have a link ...
... to any statement by the president, or anyone in his administration, stating that the Sherrod firing was due to being "afraid" of Fox-News, or that Fox-News influences WH policy?

The "he's afraid of Fox" meme originated with the rightwing, and it is tiresome to see it repeated by Democrats as though it were a fact.

2. Not by the President, but yes by Sherrod.
She said they told her to resign before Glenn Beck's program started.

And why is it that people always end up resigning after Glenn Beck goes after them? Come on, it's not a right-wing meme, it's a fact. Are you serious?

3. Who is "they"?
And did "they" say, "Listen, you have to resign because Obama is afraid of Fox-News"?

I'm not going to debate the point - because you've apparently adopted this particular rightwing talking point as a fact. I, on the other hand, don't.

6. The USDA called Sherrod demanding her resignation and told her...
... that the White House wanted her to resign before Glenn Beck went on air that day.

SHERROD: They asked me to resign. And in fact, they harassed me. As I was driving back to the state office from West Point, Georgia yesterday, I had at least three calls telling me the White House wanted me to resign.

...

SHERROD: Oh, I can tell you, that was Cheryl Cook, the deputy undersecretary. She called me and said -- because she called me, and I said, "Cheryl, I've got a three and a half hour ride to get into Athens." She called me a second time, "Where are you now?" I said, "I'm just going through Atlanta."

She called me again and I said, "I'm at least 45 minutes to an hour from Athens." She said, "Well, Shirley, they want you to pull over to the side of the road and do it because you're going to be on Glenn Beck tonight."

7. Again, who is "they"?
Did Obama, or anyone from the WH, call and say, "You've got to resign now because we're all afraid of Fox-news"?

Rightwing talking point: Obama is afraid of Fox-News. :scared:

Yeah, I'm sure he's terrified.

5. President Obama, we'll protect you against Fox News.
Never mind we're still pushing the anti-Obama narrative that Breitbart started the other week.
