NOM sign at rally suggests murdering gay people as "solution" to gay marriage
"The National Organization for Marriage's "One Man, One Woman" bus tour hit Indianapolis today and the LGBT community came out to greet them. Since we're hospitable Hoosiers, of course, our welcome wagon outnumbered the small dog and pony show put on by NOM and local religious right groups.

Over 250 LGBT and allied folks protested the rally, but only 40 fundies showed up. At least 10 of the anti-marriage equality crowd were NOM staff or local speakers; the rest of the group were older Caucasians and skewed slightly female.

One older attendee held this sign and the Courage Campaign, there to document the entire tour, got an interview with the man. It's included after the jump with another photo of the guy with the sign."

Who else thought that state-sponsored murder of their own citizens was a "solution" to a "problem"? Oh yes. And they call Obama the Nazi?

4. Interesting choice of nooses for the poster
Wasn't that the instrument of choice in so many lynchings of blacks by the KKK?

9. I know...guys who claim that male homosexuality
makes them "sick" apparently have no problem with lesbianism. In fact, it even turns some of them on.

Go figure...

18. In polls, women show more bias than men against LGBT
they are also more likely to perceive people as gay:

>>Male respondents tend to give lower estimates of both the male and female homosexual population than female respondents do. The average estimates among male respondents are that 16% of men and 21% of women are homosexual. Among female respondents, the average estimates are that 26% of men and 23% of women are homosexual. Somewhat interestingly, both sexes believe there are more homosexuals in the opposite sex than in their own sex.

19. Here is the better poll -- women more homophobic
this is from 2008 on gay marriage:

In the Times poll, women were much more likely than men to say they would vote for the anti-equality constitutional amendment. Among likely voters, men were evenly split on the ballot measure — 44% would vote for it and 44% would vote against it. But likely women voters overwhelmingly said they would support the initiative — 62% to 29%. Women were also more likely than men to say that same-sex relationships between consenting adults are morally wrong — 42% of women agreed, compared to 37% of men — while men were more likely than women to say it’s not a moral issue (58% versus 50% of women).

21. hmm, always wondered why it's always men who want
Edited on Wed Jul-28-10 12:18 PM by freeplessinseattle
to see 2 women together, but you never hear of women who want to see 2 men together.

Then again men seem more reactive to the possibility of being hit on by or being perceived as gay....

It'd be interesting to study those results more deeply.

6. Oh look, backed by the Holy Church of the White-Knight Fist or something.
Such benevolent souls those "Cross Bearers" are . . .

And people wonder why I stopped going to church when I was 14.

8. Are they SURE they want to drag Leviticus into this?
19:16 "Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor's life."

19:17 "Do not hate your brother in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in his guilt."

etc. etc.

10. Doesn't matter
they'll just keep on doing what they're good at...

picking out the parts that justify whatever sick bullshit they want to believe, and ignoring the rest like it doesn't exist, even when it's pointed out to them in black and white.

14. Pick and choosers
They pick and choose from their bible to 'validate' their hate.
Their hate is the true definition of 'abomination to God' ... very sad and troubling in that they can and do hate their fellow humans as easily as they hate a particular food item. :(

15. It seems that the more extreme the Christian based ideology, the less of the Bible it actually uses
Dominionism is basically rooted one verse. Just one.

"Reproduce a lot, destroy the environment, and take over the planet." The core doctrine of dominionism, it all comes from Genesis 1:28.

20. This is what all anti-equality people actually mean
All of them who quote the Bible, this is the reference they are insinuating, and that should be very clear from the words of such hate preachers as Fred Phelps, Anita Bryant,Donnie McClurkin, James Dobson, and the rest of them.
