Even the extras wouldn't do it . . . . . .

We're watching the Hillary Swank movie "Amelia". In many of the crowd scenes, the extras are standing there with unlit cigarettes in their mouths and in their hands. Lots of "smokers" in most scenes.

And not a puff of smoke to be seen except when she crashed the Fokker about halfway through the movie.

Not important, but kind of odd.

1. Now that you mention it, I saw a TV show the other night where the hero used

the excuse he was going to have a smoke to get out of the room. He's standing on the street reporting to his boss saying "I took up smoking" and he's holding an UNLIT cigarette!! Interesting.

Now let's go look at an old clip of The Tonight Show and see everybody on the sofa and Johnny puffing away. :7

2. Maybe SAG finally got a contract that said the studios

could no longer force people to smoke in films. Bette Davis and Katherine Hepburn both complained about it. Hepburn managed to quit. Davis never did.

Maybe they'll use e-cigs with water cartridges instead of nicotine. That's a better fakery than standing around with an unlit butt.
