Cornyn: Americans are nostalgic for Bush
. . . Of controversies over comments by new GOP Senate candidates like Rand Paul and Sharron Angle, Cornyn said there is a learning curve for those candidates. "The role of being a candidate and running for office is different, I think, than some of them might have imagined - particularly the scrutiny that they're going to get," Cornyn said. Cornyn also defended Democrats' attempts to make former President Bush an issue in the 2010 election. "I think President Bush's stock has gone up a lot since he left office," Cornyn said, citing Bush's response to Sept. 11. "I think a lot people are looking back with more fondness on President Bush's administration, and I think history will treat him well."

The rewriting of history begins. I don't think DUers will buy it. George W. Bush was the worst president in American history. Andrew Johnson next, then Nixon, then Buchanan. But don't try to polish W's image so long as I'm alive.

36. I wonder if their reaction to hearing Bush's name
is more similar to how Scar reacted to hearing Mufasa's name ("The Lion King")? One would hope so but then again, most Republicans are pretty hopeless, so...................

18. The funniest, most ridiculous thing I've heard in many years!
In my 54 years, few human beings gave me the visceral negative reaction that Bush did. and to many of my friends, my wife, my kids, my parents....

Wow! If that historical revision takes, we are in the deepest shit possible!

21. I thought about it. But I can't forgive his use of his power to destroy "enemies." And Vietnam.
I know he created the EPA, and established detente with China. I remember it well.

But he also corrupted the Constitution, and extended the war in Vietnam way past when it should have ended.

So screw Nixon. Third worst president ever, and I stand by that.

35. Yep, I'm sure there IS a nostolgia for W............
among his little inbred, White Citizen's Council, John Birch Society segment of the population.

This is also a RW debating tactic. You throw an assertion out there like it's true and if nobody argues with it, it BECOMES true. So somebody (hopefully a LOT of somebodys) need to argue it.

37. you got to be fekking kidding me!!!
I think the Bush family pays a lot of money hiring various PR firms to clean up their reputation. It took a willing media and PR for Little Boots to strut around and pretend he was some kind of damn hero for doing absolutely fekking nothing after 9/11. I remember some of the press--"oooh he's another Truman" and some of them had the audacity to compare him to FDR. Now a hero would have been someone who actually read the august PDB report and listened to those countries who warned our government that something was going down-a hero would have stopped it in its' tracks by alerting every damn airport. It's so amazing that the government, right after 9/11, knew which airplane school to confiscate the papers from that school. And the fabrications to justify an unjustifiable war--the man has so much blood on his hands it's not even funny. Oh and don't get me started on his handling of Katrina.

Then there's the screw you seniors pharma bill, the patriot act, suspending habeas corpus and posse comitatus, illegal wiretapping, lowest job creation numbers, further cuts for the rich and infamous, while allowing americans to further pay for his war profiteering friends (no bid contracts and little oversite), and his complete contempt for labor and the rest of the country. After all, he is the one that stated the wealthy were his base.

He is one of the worst and most damaging presidents this country has seen.

41. Nostalgic?
Yeah, we're nostalgically nauseated with fondness for Bush.

Yet again, a conservative uses the all-inclusive word "Americans" indirectly hinting that everyone else who may disagree with him or her, are those that Bachmann accused of being anti-Americans.
