McInnis tells 9News plagiarism claims are a 'non-issue'

GOP gubernatorial candidate Scott McInnis this afternoon said reports that large portions of water articles published under his name mirrored work published by a Colorado water expert 20-plus years ago are a "non-issue."

McInnis told 9NEWS that research provided to him was bad and he believes there are numerous other examples, similar to the one reported Monday in The Denver Post, within the papers.

Earlier today, House Speaker Terrance Carroll, D-Denver, called on McInnis to immediately drop out of the race.

"The Denver Post's story made it quite clear that Scott McInnis lacks the integrity to hold the office of Governor. It would be difficult for him to create any public trust, which is critical for this position," said Carroll.

The Post on Monday first reported that several portions of McInnis' "Musings on Water" are direct copies or near copies of an essay on water written 20 years earlier by now-Colorado Supreme Court Justice Gregory J. Hobbs.

McInnis' was paid $300,000 for the articles, which were a required part of his two-year fellowship at the Hasan Family Foundation in 2005 and 2006.

I for one am downright Giddy this came out. Mcinnis is one of the most arrogant, self righteous dirty lobbyist crooks Dick Wadhams (R state chair) could have picked to be Governor of Colorado...


Now the last plagiarist we had around here was Ward Churchill. He was a DEM and the R's harped on him for three years until they got him fired from a tenured professorship at CU.

Today the RW hate radio could hardly be bothered with this Mcinnis story.

13. You folks should remember McInnis was the "Fruitcake" Congressman

This was in 2003, and he told Pete Stark (D, Ca) to shut up. Stark then called McInnis a fruitcake.

They include a tangle with McInnis, a Western Slope Republican who served in Congress from 1993 until he stepped down in 2004. Democrats in 2003 complained Republicans on Ways and Means were trying to push a pension bill through, and at one point McInnis told Stark to shut up.

“Oh you think you’re big enough to make me, you little wimp,” Stark said, according to a transcript.

“Come on, come over here and make me, I dare you … . You little fruitcake, you little fruitcake, I said you are a fruitcake.”

Capitol police even had to be summoned.

After, DU had a fruitcake drive to send as many fruitcakes to McInnis' office as we could. He gave up his seat the next year in 2004. Was it because of the fuitcakes? I'd like to think so.:yourock:
