I thought Obama told the DEA to back off
Maybe he just suggested it. In any case, this is blatant fuckage.

Feds Raid Legal Marijuana Farm, Destroy Crops

Agents descended on the property of Joy Greenfield with guns drawn, tore out the plants and took Greenfield's computer and cash.

July 12, 2010

The federal Drug Enforcement Administration has flouted Mendocino County, California’s newly enacted medical marijuana ordinance by raiding the first collective that had applied to the sheriff’s cultivation permit program.

A multi-agency federal task force descended on the property of Joy Greenfield, the first Mendo patient to pay the $1,050 application fee under the ordinance, which allows collectives to grow up to 99 plants provided they comply with certain regulations.

Greenfield had applied in the name of her collective, “Light The Way,” which opened in San Diego earlier this year. Her property had passed a preliminary inspection by the Mendo sheriff’s deputies shortly before the raid, and she had bought the sheriff’s “zip-ties” intended to designate her cannabis plants as legal.

In the days before the raid, Greenfield had seen a helicopter hovering over her property; she inquired with the sheriff, who told her the copter belonged to the DEA and wasn’t under his control.

The agents invaded her property with guns drawn, tore out the collective’s 99 plants and took Greenfield’s computer and cash.

Joy was not at home during the raid, but spoke on the phone to the DEA agent in charge. When she told he she was a legal grower under the sheriff’s program, the agent replied, “I don’t care what the sheriff says.”

When she returned to her house she found it in disarray with soda cans strewn on the floor. “It was just a mess,” she said. “No one should be able to tear your house apart like that.”

<snip>

“The DEA is stepping all over local authorities trying to tax and regulate,” Boyd said.

<snip>

“This raid is clear evidence that the DEA is out of control,” said California NORML director Dale Gieringer. “A change in federal law is long overdue.”

19. That's propaganda bullshit
not all marijuana comes from there - and even if some of what you claim does happen, it only boosts the argument that marijuana should be legalized anyways. If it were legal, we could choose who and where to buy from and tax money could be used to fix schools, fund healthcare, etc.

Marijuana will be legal - it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. :smoke:

like that *other* website.

The only terrorism that drugs fund are the property seizures that bankroll the DEA.

Unless of course you were being sarcastic or facetious -- in which case I will do the appropriate penance.

39. Legal marijuana doesn't fund terrorism.
It's the illegal stuff that goes to Mexican gangs or Afghan heroin cartels.

Legal MMJ is grown here in the USA, and doesn't fund organized crime or terrorism.

3. The best thing that could happen to this planet or to this insane
practice of attacking people cuz they like to get high would be to have a bird appear on the horizon so to speak that likes to eat mj. I know, maybe some birds, cardinals, jays and others would like to eat mj seeds but just don't know it. I wonder if it would be illegal to put seeds into wild bird feed, then it will grow everywhere all the time and they can go piss up a rope regarding eradication. Please forgive the grammaticals.

7. I'm sure birds would eat pot seeds.
I doubt whether they would pass through and germinate though because birds usually break the outer shell of most seeds before consuming them. Besides if it were possible for pot to spread this way it would already be everywhere.

13. Maybe the DEA didn't get the memo or Obama had a bush
moment!!!!!

"WASHINGTON — The Obama administration will not seek to arrest medical marijuana users and suppliers as long as they conform to state laws, under new policy guidelines to be sent to federal prosecutors Monday.

Two Justice Department officials described the new policy to The Associated Press, saying prosecutors will be told it is not a good use of their time to arrest people who use or provide medical marijuana in strict compliance with state laws.

The new policy is a significant departure from the Bush administration, which insisted it would continue to enforce federal anti-pot laws regardless of state codes."

21. Once I saw who he nominated to head the DEA
a crazy hard-core bushie, Michele Leonhart, it was obvious that this was one more example where the words didn't line up with the deeds. There is no way you appoint Michele Leonhart if you have any interest in changing the culture of the D.E.A. About half of the US Attorneys from the Bush administration have yet to be replaced either.

They are flaunting their insubordination to the president and the executive branch.

Unfortunately, the president has shown a lack of backbone in dealing with such insubordination.

42. We do not need the DEA to play "KooKoo for Cannabis"

We DO need our infrastructure repaired.

WE DO need more help on the coast of Gulf of Mexico.

We DO need daycare for single parents.

We DO need jobs for our unemployed.

We DO need dwellings for the homeless, healthcare for the poor, investment in small businesses, green energy innovation, and a thousand and one other things besides this.

But "KooKoo for Cannabis?"

You want to throw those "precious" Federal dollars at this?

This is an obscenely wasteful use of tax dollars, benefitting a handful at the expense of society.

Why, Obama? Why?

We must believe actions and not words.

Not too much room for hope or change in those actions....
