Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Al-Megrahi remains alive and well in Libya nearly a year after his early release and months after several doctors said the cancer-stricken terrorist was supposed to have died.

Now one of those same doctors claims Megrahi could potentially live another decade.

"There was always a chance he could live for ten years, 20 years... But it's very unusual," cancer specialist Professor Sikora told London's Sunday Times.

He really should thank god that he wasn't prosecuted under our legal system. If he was in our custody he would never have been released. If he was tried in America he would have either been executed or serving his life sentence (with Cancer) ala John Gotti.

1. Actually, if he was tried in the US his defense atty might have shredded the prosecution.
I wasn't there, so I don't know what happened. Same as you.

But there are serious doubts about this...not that the FBI would lie.

4. Agreed. And a lot of other people agree with you also. I am
glad he was released as there was a lot of doubt about whether he was guilty and exactly who was responsible for that bombing.

5. He was released supposedly because he was going to die
in 3 months. Well clearly he did not die and apparently can live for years. So pardon me if I think it was a very screwed up thing to release him, supposedly on humane grounds.

6. Well pardon me if I care whether or not someone is actually
guilty. And pardon me again for wanting humane treatment of all human beings, something this country stands alone among modern democracies as not caring about. Living in the U.S. hardens people and isolates us from civilization apparently. Most modern democracies will allow prisoners to go home to die.

In this case, it may have been a deal to allow an innocent man to go free without having to admit he was innocent. Here of course, even if they knew he was innocent, they would probably have executed him. Just so we could keep everyone living in fear of 'terra'. I envy those countries for their humanity, something we lost a long time ago.

7. My mother was supposedly going to die of her cancer in 2 months, but lived for 2 more years.
Predicting the time remaining for any cancer patient is always a crap shoot.

All that aside, the case against him was patently bogus anyway. I'm glad he was released.
