I remember that and I checked one of my back up hard drives and sure enough, I saved it too.
All my favorite DU'ers are on that sign including some who are no longer with us.

GREAT find.
It's my new desktop wallpaper.

when I've taken du breaks - all kinds of things change.

I had been away from du for at least a year, decided to check in, and that was the day kephra died. I got to go to his funeral - but only b/c of that bit of happenstance.

48. Then maybe nostamj used mopaul's graphic...
Edited on Thu Jul-08-10 07:48 PM by JHB
It was one of the images nostamj used in his "Question W Revue". He was also a graphic designer (here's a link to http://www.cafepress.com/nostamj/">his CafePress page) so I guess I though it was one of his own.

I just remember mopaul very well and knew that graphic - I have it in all b&w from long ago. it's iconic. mopaul was very happy to share his images, too.

I also remember nostamj so it was a little confusing to me.

people come and go so quickly around here... (channeling some wizard of oz)

56. Thanks for straightening that out.
After nostamj died so suddenly, I "picked up the torch" and compiles the TOON threads for a while. I used that the entire time as a sort of memorial at the top of those posts (it is iconic...) since it was part of his Revue. Oops!

15. Yep
usually started by the wealthy and fought by the poor for anything but the reasons given.

Never agreed with war profiteering and murdering on behalf of the most wealthy to make them more so.

Got to keep that military industrial complex chugging along.

Hey it's not murder, some government official said so!

IMO contract killings should be legal if the way we prosecute wars is also.

On a side note, think of all the actual good that could be done with the money that is squandered on war.

I loathe war and people who fall for the manipulative nonsense that enables it.

25. my tribute to him
http://www.thedailylight.com/articles/2007...
To the Editor,

We have lost 100 soldiers this month so far. This makes the third month in a row that the death toll has exceeded 100. In June, there were 299 soldiers wounded, unable to return to duty. In the meantime, we are oblivious to the suffering that our brave troops have to endure silently. There are many instances of soldiers and Marines being discouraged from seeking treatment for the horror they have witnessed. My good friend, Dale Peters, was instrumental in creating mental health resources for military with PTSD. Dale also founded the first shelter for homeless veterans in his state in Illinois. Dale died a few weeks ago. He was a veteran, a hero, and I loved him as my friend. In Dale’s memory, I invite you to consider a small donation to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. You can learn more about them at www.nchv.org . Until we acknowledge the trauma and suffering our troops are enduring through multiple deployments, poor equipment and poor planning, the number of homeless veterans will continue to grow. Help these heroes who need us. They were there for us.

65. I still have the sign. I just can't part with it. (pic heavy)
That was one of the best marches ever! I met so many wonderful people and unhappycamper took very good care of me and my marching buddy, introducing us to all his friends and making sure we were in the loop about the goings on for the weekend. We camped out in one of two "Camp Casey" grounds for us out-of-towners. Ours had a very pretty, but very cold pond. It was hot that weekend, so it was not too cold for a bunch of us. Excellent time, excellent march!

Thanks for the memories, camper! Long time no "see"!

Here's a few more pics.

Actually, the lying weasel wasn't there, but there were quite a few folks on the lawn, probably secret service, checking us out.

One of my favorite signs, and I kind of liked the framing, too...lol

Cindy Sheehan. I gave her a little pin that day with interchangeable numbered wooden dangles so she could display the number of soldiers KIA. It's hard to see, cuz the pic is so blurry, but she has it on. I wonder what she ever did with it.

My marching buddy. It was her first protest march. She was such a hoot. When we got to the halfway mark of the march, she asked me where the bus was to take us back to the rally. That green tent was our "personal" potty, although we were happy to share. Had a little port-a-potty in it and it made a great changing room, too.

Marchers ahead.
