Poll question: Against all enemies, foreign and domestic:
Who (what) is the greatest threat to our way of constitutional government?

Frankly, I'm torn.

2. Other: Capitalism
Doesn't matter which 'overlords' are enforcing it

11. We've always been a capitalist country.
The problem as I see it is that our government was tasked from the beginning with regulating commerce (it's right there in the Constitution), and has chosen a path of non-regulation. Unregulated and unlimited capitalism is dangerous; well, unregulated and unrestricted ANYTHING is gonna be dangerous! I honestly don't think the threat is capitalism per se; what has always worked best in American history is a blend of socialism and capitalism. That is to say, government-based investment and private investment. I don't think it's wise to be afraid of economic policies whichever way they lean; as long as there's opportunity for the common person and retention of free enterprise, freedom isn't constrained.

I believe the threat to our government lies principally in the concentration of wealth. Concentrated wealth has brought down many nations in the past and I think it threatens ours today. After some thought I went with the popular choice, and selected our Corporate Overlords.

How does one defeat such foes? I suspect that the only option open to the people is a constitutional amendment (say, start with publicly funded elections), which has to pass a whopping thirty-eight states before it becomes law, which makes it quite a long shot. We've won elections, and some improvements have been made but there's no change in the pullers of the strings. So I'm thinking the long shot is the only shot we've got, and it certainly won't be the end of us if it misses. What do we have to lose?

6. The Tea Party seems anything BUT apathetic...they are very engaged
but I have to strenuously disagree with their policy goals and guiding principles.

4. There's really only one correct answer here
And so far 80% of the votes have it right.

"Illegal" immigrants, environmental disasters, and yes, even the fictional construct of "Al Qaeda" are ALL byproducts of predatory capitalism.

5. Without rancor, could whoever voted for "socialism" or "illegal immigrants"
defend their choice?

Because honestly I don't see how socialism is a threat, and the problem of illegal immigrants can easily be solved once this nation possesses the will to stop employers from hiring under the table.

9. Especially since socialism is an economic construct
and has nothing whatsoever to do with the Constitution, which could function easily as-is regardless of the economic system we use.

12. Other: an uninformed electorate
The founding fathers expected that the citizens would be informed. Today so many just take sound bites and talking points for truth and don't bother to fact check on their own. I suspect if more people paid attention to what was going on, not just in the government but in the corporate world as well, we'd be a lot better off.

Though in defense of the citizen, the government and the corporate world don't make it very easy.
