suffering from high altitude sickness
I live in Iowa and am in Montana. This f---ing sucks. I was on a ten hour tour at Yellowstone and started getting sleepy. It scared the crap out of me since I'm a hypocondriac at first because I thought that I had a brain tumor. I had trouble sleeping at night and had some dizziness. It makes my adrenaline go way up. I feel a little better today but look out for me.

1. Whatever you do, don't drink booze. Stay hydrated with lots of water and rest as
much as you can. Lie down whenever you can. For me, when I went from sea level to vising Los Alamos, NM, I got sick but was much better within 24 hours. So I'm hoping you will be better quickly too.

2. Some people are more susceptible than others, but you'll acclimate
eventually. Remember to stay hydrated...

Yellowstone is beautiful, isn't it?

I was in a daze for 2 or 3 days. To make matters worse they had fires burning in the distance, but it was enough that set off my allergies. Terrible time.

On edit: I meant this as a reply to the OP.

4. I own a pulse oximeter
You can buy one for as cheap as $50. I use mine in my aircraft, primarily. As I get older I find my body doesn't tolerate high altitudes as well as it once did. At about 9,000' MSL my oxygen level starts to drop and at about 10,000' it goes below 90% so I get on oxygen. It also came in handy when my wife came down with a spell of pneumonia a few months ago. I was able to monitor her condition at home to make sure she wasn't getting worse.

5. I used to think that I was a hypochondriac.
But my therapist told me that I was deluded in so thinking.

6. Used to get it every summer when I was a kid.
We'd drive from Houtson to southern CO, and on the second day like clockwork, I was throwing up. Couldn't keep anything down for at least a day- then I was fine. You'll adjust soon.
