Live Mic Left On, Reporters Call Palin “Dumb”
At her CSU speech today...
During the live mic drama at the end, the reporters said now they know that her “dumbness doesn’t come from soundbites” and wondered if she had finished ONE statement, but decided, no she had not. They laughed derisively and made jokes about having to text their conservative friends about this. Other various comments:

“I feel like I just got off a rollercoaster.”
“She didn’t finish a statement.”
“I don’t know how you’re gonna make a story out of that.” “Well, that’s the story.”
“Did she even make a point?”
“Lots of Reagan.”
“Just put as many random quotes in as you can.”

she did a couple of tweets about the BP oil spew, and how it's BS that the "lamestream media" is making BP the bad guy. I and many others were so incensed at what she was saying that we all fired off tweets at her, calling her on HER bullshit. It was probably all for naught, but it felt good.

of college students that just put in as many random quotes as they can. He pointed out that she even quoted Kennedy and he says, come on.

And whoever said that is right. It sounds like the same speech she gave at that tea klanner conference. She was completely incoherent to the point of sounding like a parody of herself.

The man who noted Vogon poetry sometimes caused internal organs to murder the (grateful) host... oh yeah, he would happily swap places with any of the poor schmucks stuck on the Palin beat. Carlin too!

If these idiot media organizations don't at long last go on record with what's plainly obvious, we're in worse trouble than we think. Look at the progression of Republican presidential aspirants:

Reagan --> Quayle --> Dubya --> Palin --> ?????

There's no bottom for the Republicans to plumb, they always manage to go lower. And the next halfwit Joe the Plumber might be an effective kingmaker.

39. I don't think that's because she's miserly.
I think she won't hire a speechwriter because she honestly believes that she's more brilliant and talented they are. She's constantly told by her worshippers that she's perfect; they blame anyone and everyone else for her goofy-ass statements and it's never HER fault when she comes off sounding like a fool. She's dumb enough to believe them.

46. The self-parody is sublime
Even long before this, Tina Fey's brilliance wasn't able to improve upon it. In one SNL sketch, Fey-as-Palin delivered a long word salad that was, in fact, virtually verbatim Palin's own words:

"PALIN": "Like every American I'm speaking with, we are ill about this. We're saying, 'Hey, why bail out Fanny and Freddie and not me?' But ultimately, what the bailout does is, help those that are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy to help, uhhh, it's gotta be all about job creation too. Also, too, shoring up our economy and putting Fannie and Freddie back on the right track, and so health care reform and reducing taxes and reigning in spending...'cause Barack Obama, ya know, has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans, also, having a dollar value meal at restaurants. That's gonna help. But 1 in 5 jobs being created today under the umbrella of job creation. That, you know. Also....."

70. Isn't it?
That quote was Tina Fey doing Palin on SNL. Note how little it differs (apart from the "dollar value meal" reference) from the transcript of the actual Couric interview with Palin:

COURIC: Why isn’t it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families who are struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries? Allow them to spend more, and put more money into the economy, instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?

PALIN: That’s why I say I, like every American I’m speaking with, we're ill about this position that we have been put in. Where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy. Um, helping, oh, it’s got to be about job creation, too. Shoring up our economy, and putting it back on the right track. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions, and tax relief for Americans, and trade — we have got to see trade as opportunity, not as, uh, competitive, um, scary thing, but one in five jobs created in the trade sector today. We’ve got to look at that as more opportunity. All of those things under the umbrella of job creation.

To me, it looks like she was prepped for the interview but retained nothing but the buzz words--and she figured she might as well throw ALL of them into her reply to a single question!

We tend to relate best to logic and intellect, so she'd be hard-pressed to find an Aspie who'd help her write her speeches--she makes so little sense, it's like listening to a random-word generator but less interesting.

31. Keith Olbermann: Palin is 'stupid'
Palin has a tremendous capacity for being un-curious about the world in which she lives, preferring that simulation that exists only in that tiny little head of hers. Make no mistake about it, however ignorant Palin chooses to be, there are very smart and ruthless people that will benefit from having someone like her in the White House.

Palin is a sock puppet for the ruling class, one of many!

74. Agreed, and I would take this even further...
...one of the reporters cited her constant citings of Reagan.

She's using the same damned playbook Ronniebaby used. Remember that people said similar things about Saint Ronnie prior to his first election victory. Look what that got us.

It's not so much her that concerns me as it is the millions of followers she has garnered, and the media backing of Rupert Murdoch. She's become a cult of personality, just like what Ronniebaby did back in those good old days. She's an idiot to be sure, but she is not to be taken lightly. Call her out on her bullshit, and defeat her if she gets the hankering to run.

Edited on Sat Jun-26-10 12:22 PM by CoffeeCat
Of course, Sarah is too ignorant and lacking in any sort of self awareness, to understand
that the vast majority of Americans think she is a walking tool.

This will be pawned off as "Oh the librul media hates me! Waaaaa!!!" but this is the majority opinion
about her.

The right wing of the right wing loves her. The rest of us are so tired of this stupid, ingrate
being foisted on us. Her speech was so ridiculous, it's obvious that the Republican party is
allowing her to "go rogue"--giving her just enough rope with which to hang herself.

There are many conservatives that I can tolerate, and even agree with. However, Palin is
a complete fool. She's such an embarrassment to herself and to this country. The only
people who can't see this--are Sarah and her blissfully ignorant fan base. :eyes:

60. Better transcript here
I left out the tech talk (including "how you gonna make a story out of that, which I interpreted as being about the tech difficulties they were having)

"Oh my God, I feel like I just got off a roller coaster. Round and round, up and down, shit flying out everywhere and scaring you--"

"It's like when you gotta write a report as a college student, and you just try to jam as many quotes in as possible, you know, from as many random, you know, things as you can, that's what I got out of it."

"And she didn't finish a statement."

"Right"

"Did she make a statement? Cause I didn't catch that either."

"To think she can even quote Kennedy, that's like a holy event!" (or an unholy event?)

"Twice!"

"Now I know: The dumbness doesn't come from just soundbites."

"I'm gonna go send this text to my conservative friend."

79. one note
Actually,it's the reporters talking about the writing this speech up:

"how are you going to make a story out of that (the speech)"? the reporter answers, "that is the story" (the fact that she can't speak).

76. So, when are they due to publicly apologize?
'Cause that always seems to be demanded of those who speak truth to dumb.
