Shine Sunlight on Corporate Front Groups
http://www.citizen.org/Page.aspx?pid=3543

The Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision re-wrote the nation’s campaign finance laws to allow unlimited corporate spending in elections. Now, corporate front groups are growing in size and influence. Their secret funders remain in the shadows.

The American public should know who is funding election-season corporate propaganda. Use the form below to tell your members of Congress to support the DISCLOSE Act (H.R. 5175).

This legislation provides full disclosure of corporate and wealthy funding sources behind political advertising, extends the disclosure window to cover most of an election period, and tightens restrictions on political ads by government contractors and foreign entities.

Despite the special interest lobbying that created loopholes for some large membership organizations like the NRA and Sierra Club, the DISCLOSE Act still contains the most thorough disclosure requirements ever.

Further attempts to weaken the bill should be rejected, and every effort should be made to close loopholes and pass a strong bill by July 4.

1. I think the important thing is that commercials should now be required to announce
who is paying for it both before and after the commercial. Beyond that, if it's a corporate front company they should have to announce their major financial supporters so they can't hide behind misleading names.
