Olbermann, DU & others criticized Obama for not approving the berms to protect LA
Edited on Wed Jun-16-10 08:15 PM by HughMoran
Now that he has approved the berms, Rachel is tearing him up because now that she's looked into it (actual scientific input), it has been determined that they may do more harm than good, doh! All of the bemoaning about Obama's slow approval of the berms may indeed have been for naught. But who needs to spend the time to look into the scientific aspects before approving stuff that a couple of dumb Republicans (Jindal, et al) want, right?

3. If he was the only one screaming about the slow approval of the berms
I wouldn't even have posted this. Alas, the evidence is still here on the 'net for those who wish to find it.

Now they have egg on their faces. Good.

6. I have watched Atlantic Beach NC do berms for many years.
It seems at the end of each summer season, I see the boats with large tubes moving sand off shore. They are temporary measures at best and the sea just moves them. In the end, they aren't the solution. Removal of oil from water is the approach that should go forward. Jindal and others were grand standing.

9. I can't remember the guys' name, but this was talked about on NPR's
Diahn Rehms show, and whoever he was explained how the berms could could do more harm than good. I wish I could remember his name.

10. Didn't we know that the berms would fuck shit up. I heard this already...
And he is approving them. WTF?

The pros and cons against the berms are already known.

11. So pundit/comedienne finds out the question is not so simple!

If only SHE were president! We wouldn't have to bother with all that stuff like looking into a thing to make sure it's the thing to do before we do it! We'd just do it because it sounds good! :sarcasm:

16. OK. How about some scientific data?
I'm not being snarky. I just like science.

I already know more about drilling for oil than I ever wanted to know, but I wouldn't mind some more information.

17. Every decision is going to be second guessed- and given the consequences
of the President's having adopted Republican drilling policies while having failed to get his own house in order- the onus will continue to fall on him.

Knee jerk "supporters" who tear into anyone who criticizes the administration are going to have a LOT of work to do over the next two and a half years.
