Mobile residents smelling oil in the air
"Mobile, Alabama - Outdoor fun in west Mobile on a summer evening. How many of you smell anything? Renee MacLennan says, "I live in midtown but work in Fairhope. It kind of smells like a gas station. It has the gassy, oily smell when you go outside....

One gentleman who did not want to be identified said he's had respiratory challenges and he believes whatever is in the air is part of the problem.

Odessa Garmon was out taking her baby for a walk. She says the smell is like something burnt and greasy. "I started noticing it a while back. I just stay indoors because it smells different out here. I have children and when they come in they are coughing. I try to keep them indoors as much as I can." "

I love the smell of oil in the morning - smells like victory!

I wonder when the VOC's will start showing up in the rainwater and the groundwater?

I also don't think it will be long before we see people dumping beachfront property on the Gulf coast.

2. I've smelled it a couple of times
here in Biloxi. It smelled like tar to me. Fortunately, we haven't been affected to nearly the extent that others have on the coast, so the odor is just an occasional irritant.
