Dreams of Deregulation, a capitalistic wet dream...
Are you tired of conservatives bashing the same old drums of deregulation? If we allowed them to gut every regulation and law that attempts to restrict corporate abuses against people and the environment our nation would look like a sewer from coast to coast. Before the clean water, air and soil laws were passed beginning in the 60s and 70s toxic waste dumps were scattered across our country. Rivers caught on fire. Air, water and soil pollution was rampant. And this is the world conservatives must dream about since they are opposed to all regulations.

In 2000, during the presidential elections GW Bush said, "Businesses must be allowed to regulate themselves!". We all see how that turned out haven't we? Our economy was destroyed. Corporate corruption was widespread. And now the Gulf of Mexico is being destroyed by corporate greed. With all of the ammunition conservatives have given us democrats should slaughter conservatives in the Fall elections. But will democrats capitalize on the carnage brought on by widespread corporate attacks against human beings and the environment? Time will tell, but I hope democratic leaders find the courage to confront the evil forces from the right wing. This is a golden opportunity to finally put a nail in the conservative's coffin. But will our leaders seize this moment and actually lead us to a brighter future?

1. Deregulation coupled with limited liability allows corporations to play "Heads corporations make
obscene profits, tails We the People pay for losses".

4. The 5 oil company CEOs looked like buffoons when testifying before congress...
When they were asked any question they avoided answering any of them directly or openly. It's sad how soulless those at the top of large corporations can become. Or maybe you have to be soulless to even be considered for a position of power in a corporation. The five CEOs were totally clueless when asked why technology for oil cleanup technology hasn't progressed any in 40 years. None of them ever even heard of the Ixtoc oil disaster in 1979. How do these people get their jobs??? Whenever any CEO from any industry testifies before congress they all act the same. They all seem clueless about what is going on in their companies and they have no knowledge of the day to day actions within their companies. So why are they paid millions a year when they have no idea what their companies are doing? And why are they paid so much if they have zero responsibilities?

6. Agree! I wish grass-root Democrats would keep emphasizing that simple fact rather than letting
politicians divide voters over polarizing issues that are less important than who controls our government.

The fight is, always has been, and always will be between those who sweat and toil for their daily bread and the few who through luck and guile accumulated wealth and rose to power.

I hate the growing corporate state and all it offers.

5. Deregulation isn't just for 'Pugs, hasn't been for a long while
Hell, Clinton did more deregulation of the financial sector than Reagan and Bush the Elder combined,a big part of the reason we're in this huge economic mess we're in.

Deregulation, as with helping out your corporate masters, is a bipartisan game, one of the major reasons we make so little progress.

7. We have to take money out of the system, or we will continue to have this mess.
Both major political parties are owned by virtually the same corporations. If we could get tough campaign finance reform passed so the people's voices could be heard it would completely change our system, for the better. Until then we will continue to have a revolving door of political prostitutes going to Washington DC. The Reform Party in the 90s wanted tough campaign finance laws, but most people blindly voted for both major parties. As long as people so willingly vote for prostitutes instead of honest candidates there will never be change. And there will never be any real changes to the two party system until a third party rises up again. But most people aren't very informed or very bright. Their sanity can even be called into question because voting in the same way and expecting different results is one of the signs of insanity. We have a one-party system with two heads. In 2000, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), controlled exclusively by republicans and democrats, prevented any third party candidates from even participating in the debates. Who are they to determine what the American people get to hear? The CPD is just a corrupt group controlled by the two major parties to keep control of the country. They are terrified of a third party that might actually represent the people instead of their beloved corporations who control their every move.

Although I vote primarily democratic I have voted for every political party during my life. Straight party voters in either major party aren't very bright. When people do that they are giving up their rights and just being patsies to be manipulated. It's amazing how many dumb people there are. And unfortunately, the rest of us have to live with their mistakes.
