Alvin Greene Radio Interview - Sad, Actually
SC Democratic Senatorial Candidate, Alvin Greene, was just interviewed on LA's Pacifica outlet, KPFK. The host was local African American community activist, Earl Ofari Hutchinson. Hutchinson treated Greene with much respect, no gotchas, trying little by little to coax the guy into something resembling a conversation. Didn't work. Greene replied by mumbling, monosyllablic replies, long pauses. He had no spin, no talking points, and no backup as he faces the spotlight. Greene was so awkward, so overwhelmed by his current situation, it was hard to listen to.

But at some point, Greene signed on for the caper, and he's stuck riding it out. Somehow I think of Karl Rove's IT guru, Mike Connell. He died in a private plane crash a day before meeting with the grand jury to answer questions on election tampering. Moral here somewhere...

An archive of the show should be loaded in a day or so, if you want to hear it yourself.

1. I've watched a couple of his TV interviews and he

wasn't any more impressive. Kind of mumbles on but insists no one put him up to this and it was his money that he paid to file. Reminds me of a fish out of water.

3. With a little coaching, he will be just as electable as Sarah Palin.
He is, and I say this without sarcasm, really a man of the people. Personally, I think there is more to him than is immediately apparent whether or not he was put up to it. He claims to have a degree in Poli Sci. That claim should be checked, but he seems very sincere about certain issues. He grates a lot less on my nerves than Sarah Palin. With a little help, he might do quite well in the Senate. He would certainly do better than Jim De Mint any day.

He seems to lack confidence, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. It's much more appealing that all those idiotic candidates who have too much confidence.

I thought he was a lot better in this interview than he was in the KO interview. He may have been intimidated by all the attention and confusion and national status of KO's show.

Mr. Greene would be a good project for James Carville. Where is he when he could really serve the people for a change? Carville and Greene would probably win over De Mint any day. They'd make a good combination. I'm serious.

4. He is facing a felony obscenity
charge because he, a 32 year old man, allegedly went to a college library and showed porn to a 19 year old college girl. I fail to see how he is going to be a good project for anyone.

6. The obscenity charge is a serious matter.
But, quite seriously, if it weren't for that, he is just as qualified, maybe better qualified than Sarah Palin. As I said, someone needs to check on whether his statement that he has a degree in Poli Sci can be verified. If that is true, Greene probably knows more about politics and world affairs than Sarah Palin did when she was the governor of Alaska.

The obscenity charge is a very serious matter. I tend to believe the young woman who brought the allegations.

5. You honestly think that with a little help he could do quite well?

7. Better than Jim De Mint or Vitter.
Certainly better than Sarah Palin did as governor of Alaska or even in her bid for VP. Give him some training in public speaking, drill him on the catch phrases regarding policy and tell him where the United Arab Emirates is (if he doesn't already know) and he will be set to go. A little help from James Carville and he might even win. So much of politics is show.

13. You have got to be kidding me. He makes Sarah Palin sound like a genius, and that's not easy.
She at least is verbose and can try to baffle you with bullshit. He doesn't even know where to get started. What "issues" does he seem to be sincere about? All he ever does is repeat phrases and platitudes as if someone is coaching him to parrot them.

And that's not a lack of confidence you're seeing in him. What you're seeing is a guy who isn't all there mentally. It's like he's brain damaged or something.

8. CNN's Don Lemon interviewed Greene today and was seriously disturbed
To the point where he repeatedly asked Greene if he was OK or under the influence, though he did not quite use those words. I missed most of the interview but caught that part at the end of the re-broadcast. I wanted to see the whole interview, but cannot find it on CNN as of a few minutes ago.

If this has finally gotten the Democratic Party to begin pushing for verifiable voting, it will be worth having MR. Green being in the race.

11. I saw the head of the D party down there, the one who had asked him to resign... he was very
disturbed that Greene may be mentally challenged (literally) after meeting with him. Watching and listening to him, I have to agree (and I haven't seen him in person). Whoever put him up to this should be in jail, and he should get out of any legal challenge if his IQ is less than 70. Anyone who would take advantage of a disabled person (in any sense of the word) should be brought to justice. The whole thing is disturbing.

12. Yes, this is just sad. Greene does not seem very capable
And I am not sure he really understands how unable to do the job he is.

On the other hand, maybe he is playing the system. I'm watching the original movie version of All the King's Men - maybe Alvin Greene is a latter day Willie Starke and is using the system to get where he wants.
